When I press Auto and set the temperature higher than outside temp, it blows cold air.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi friends, this feels like a stupid question but I have been trying to figure out how to turn on heating in my MK2 Carrera. When I press Auto and set the temperature higher than outside temp, it blows cold air. When in MANUELL mode and I turn on the snowflake compressor button on the button left corner, it blows cold air. When I turn off the compressor and just leave the blower on, it blows warm air. But is this really how the heating works in this car? Wouldnt the cabin get all fogged up this way? I looked up the owners manual but I cannot find the answer. I hope anyone can finally enlighten me here. Does it have anything to do with market specs? I live in Taiwan which is subtropical but it does get chilly in winter. Cheers guys and thanks.

POST 2Original post

It’s likely that the blend doors have not been patched and the foam is disintegrated, like so: The heater core sits in that alcove on the right. But then again maybe the servo that moves the blend door is inoperative.

Looks like the AC system needs to get checked. So whats the normal operation to get the heating going?

POST 4Original post

It should be by just turning up the temperature. Taking a few moments to ponder, I’m curious if any temperature sensors are giving false data. Does the temperature of the air coming from the vents change when the compressor is on? Or is it just the same level of cold?

Ive never think to check if the level of cold changes. Ill get a feel tomorrow! It could be the temp sensor if there is different levels of cold?
