Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found a new and strange 996 problem. I bought a replacement HID unit to replace one with a cracked lens. When reinstalling the new light, it will not lock in place and I believe the seal looks to be the cause. The old hosing with no seal locks easily. I removed the seal/gasket from the new unit and it locks. The seal is OEM, and seems to be just a smidge too thick at the top of lens. While in place, but not locked the light will come on if I push on the front of the lens a bit. Has anyone experienced this issue and had a fix? I have another related gripe about the corner triangles. You can't seem to remove them from a light without snapping the tabs.

POST 2Original post

You need to adjust the tray the headlight assembly locks into . The bumper cover needs to be removed . There are three knurled ***** that hold the tray in . The holes in the tray are slotted . I haven't personally done this but was told to loosen the tray and slide it forward . Then lock the headlight to the tray . Then slide the tray back until the gasket is against the headlight opening and tighten the three knurled ***** .

POST 3Original post

Other option have a friend push hard against the headlight to compress the gasket while you attempt to lock the assembly in place . I would think if you can get it locked the gasket will take a set and be good to go .

POST 4Original post

Lubricate the seal a bit? I do it to all the stubborn o-rings and rubber hoses, and a little bit of lubrication makes a huge difference.
