Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Ive checked pin 1 & 3 resistance which is around 2.6k Ohm at 18-20c.
Leading evidence: 'Check pin 1 & 3 resistance' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check entire length' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Checked voltage on Pin 5 which did not alter with the faulty MAF.

I also checked all wiring (continuity and resistance) from DME back to MAF plug, all this was good.

Cleaned all connectors and plugs with contact cleaner and tried cleaning MAF with proper cleaner.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Afternoon folks, Im looking for some advice and next steps on where to troubleshoot the MAF fault appearing. Considering buying a new sensor but just want to be 100% first.
Symptoms are hard to start and wont idle initially, just dies if I dont hold throttle up. If I hold the RPM up above 1.5k for a couple of minutes it eventually idles but reluctantly/lumpy.
Durametric shows MAF voltage constant at 1.00v regardless of RPM. At 2k RPM the Air Mass kg/h is around 65-70
Ive checked pin 1 & 3 resistance which is around 2.6k Ohm at 18-20c.
Ive also confirmed 12v and 5v reference on the MAF connector relevant pins.
Disconnecting MAF makes no difference.
Cleaned all connectors and plugs with contact cleaner and tried cleaning MAF with proper cleaner.
Cleaned IACV and throttle body fully.
Background is I purchased the car with suspected cylinder head fault (it also had this idle issue too according to previous owner). I have fully stripped,
i
nspected and rebuilt the engine, I was especially careful during rebuild with vacuum and plenum/intake connections as read lots of people get issues here. Everything is new, I replaced pretty much every part during the rebuild.
Car does have K&N induction filter and from the paperwork looks to have been dynoed (with HP up on standard). I also see no CAM deviation on Bank1 could this perhaps be a flashing/DME issue?
Im going to do a smoke test this week to check for vacuum leaks just in case.
What else should I check? Is it an actual wiring issue (wires look ok in engine bay) or is the fault code a red herring?
Car is a UK 1999 C2, cable throttle version.
Thanks in advance.
U would have to look at the scematic but i would also back pin the dme and check the entire length for continuity. Mice do like these wires. I had an issue with my o2 sensors and a tech before u owned the car spread the teeth on the dme pins which cause intermintant issues. The problem with the maf codes r they rarely mean the sensor is bad. Its usually a symptom of another problem
Just wanted to report back that problem is fixed. A new Bosch MAF sorted the problem.
There were no vacuum leaks - I did a comprehensive smoke test. I also checked all wiring (continuity and resistance) from DME back to MAF plug, all this was good. Checked voltage on Pin 5 which did not alter with the faulty MAF.
New MAF connected and voltage now increases with RPM and idles fine along with kg/h reading more in range... previously at 3k it was reading 150-160.
More details of the testing process I followed is over on 911uk.com
