Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

Finding that gasket and replacing it may not be worth the effort ($$) if it is just a weep...I would just top up the trans every year or so and keep it cleaned.....If it is a full on leak and making a mess on the garage floor and unable to keep the trans full of fluid it will need to fixed...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have two small leaks. Can you guide me to the correct fixes/parts to get? In the photo above, in the center between the two bolts. And oil on the cooler

POST 3Original post

This really doesn't give us much to go on. Please tell us year/model, manual or Tip, etc. My guess is your car is a Tip and that is the transmission oil cooler. The other drip could be oil or coolant, depending on where it is located.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry let me be more specific. Both leaks are oil, not coolant. RMS is more towards the rear and was changed 6 months ago. C2 2002 merc tiptronic 3.6

POST 5Original post

Really clean up that oil cooler on the transmission, then monitor for a leak. Could be the other spot of oil is also from the oil cooler and is driven by air flow towards the back. I would be pricing out an oil cooler replacement. And also, those spring clamps could be tired and need new ones.

POST 6Original post

Yeah it is obviously a Tiptronic...the second pic looks like the oil cooler is weeping On the first pic it looks like the gasket on the rear housing is leaking/weeping...and has been cleaned up...That gasket is known to leak and even though it is a Merc 722 Trans, I think that particular gasket may be hard to find. It is different from other Merc 722's and doesn't come in Merc 722 gasket kits.....At least that this the way it used to...It may be easier to find nowadays... Finding that gasket and replacing it may not be worth the effort ($$) if it is just a weep...I would just top up the trans every year or so and keep it cleaned.....If it is a full on leak and making a mess on the garage floor and unable to keep the trans full of fluid it will need to fixed...

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So both leaks are from the tiptronic and I should be watching the tiptronic oil level?
