Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Rennlist: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hi, everyone. It's time to do something about my owners manual and registration flopping around in that slot under my steering wheel. What are my options? As far as I've seen, all the binders listed on Suncoast and Pelican Parts areaccording to themtoo big to fit. Meanwhile all I've found on eBay was a single binder that had seen better days but was nevertheless listed for $300which I'm not gonna pay on principle. One of my fellow glovebox-less 996ers must have tackled this problem; would appreciate being let in on the solution.
Thanks!
My registration is also in my door pocket. And my owners manual is in the slot below the steering wheel. Ive been meaning to remove it, since I hardly ever look at it.
I have collected a few 1999 owner manuals packages at swap meets over the years I noticed some folders come in a kind of cloth and some in sorta leather, if you tell me which one you have maybe I could help you out, $300 is just ridiculous 😀

I pick up one of the pouches from these guys for my 996.1, they currently don't show any stock but you could try contacting them directly:

for my 2000 MY, i had to remove some of the extra BS papers to make the manual fit, it was super tight... of course now i cant remember what i did with them, but it was tire info and other BS... I like PorscheTech's Idea better remove completely and
carry something more useful... a Luger perhaps... lol
My reg/insurance are in the door pocket and the manual is somewhere in my home office.
I'm curious, why? I have a feeling whatever the rationale is, it doesn't apply to me.
Thieves will break your car window to find out where you live and rob your house. Nicer cars indicate wealthier victims.
I photocopied my registration and used a sharpie to black-out my address. I then made a photocopy of
that
and put it in my car. The second photocopy ensures that you cant tilt the page and read through the sharpie ink.
I read about this strategy online, and verified it with my local police department before doing it. They verbally allowed it. You may want to check with yours before you give it a try, but I think theyll understand the upside of it.
This guy ghettos.
AFAIK you're really not supposed to alter, or pass copies of documents as the legal version in California, but the papers are so small I can either fit one in my wallet, or all 5 in my go-bag. They just don't stay in the car whenever it's getting parked outside.
Another tip along these lines is to never store your correct address under home on the cars GPS. If somebody gets your keys, they can discretely find your car from the chirp by hitting the lock button (on most modern cars at least), drive to your house with the home address on the GPS, enter your house with the keys and/or garage door opener, and have a field day.
If you want to go full Blues Brothers, you can use the address of Wrigley Field for your GPS home address
