Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Check the red pedal switch, it has a plunger that can have the length re-adjusted.
Leading evidence: 'Check red pedal switch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check red pedal switch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. The reason they are cheap is because they want to connect you to a repair shop to do the repairs.

They both do the same thing for my Porsches, but I can use the MAX on other brands.

I have tried to use several of the cheap OBD readers that connect via bluetooth to your phone.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings!
We have encountered some issues with our '04 C4S and are waiting to get in with our independent guy. We've hit 72K and the car has been great so far during our 20 years of ownership. While we wait, we wanted to get an OBD2 scanner so we can start getting the codes and some intel on what's going on. I've seen a few scanners mentioned....Launch, BlueDriver, Foxwell, etc. We don't want a Durametric scanner because we don't have a PC to connect to. We're not DIYers so we don't need anything too elaborate. We also want a multi-vehicle one as we want to use it on our '11 X5d, which has hit 125K and having some senior moments these days.
Appreciate any insights!
Mel
This tool scans and then connects to your phone and takes you to the part replacement you need which you can click and buy. Works on all our cars.

Thanks Marv! Love the GT3...and the fact you are driving the hell out of it. I have a '04 C4S with 73k so I guess I'm just getting it broken in. Best. Tim
I have an icarsoft POR II, then moved on to the CRMAX. Both icarsoft are good for quick diagnosis and service resets. They both do the same thing for my Porsches, but I can use the MAX on other brands.
I also have PIWIS II and now loading up my new PIWIS III.
Both the POR II and PIWIS II served me well, but I've moved on to something a bit more robust/newer in anticipation of a newer Porsche.
icarsoft POR ii is/was perfectly fine. I sold my Durametric once I got it.
Thx, ill let u know. I have to knock out a few other paying jobs before i get my car back into the shop bay
I did find last weekend that the cruise turns in but wont activate....im wondering if a clutch switch in some kind of porsche convaluted way is effecting the central lock system?
Ok just let me know....PIWIS is invaluable for alarm control / central locking system issues...
Yes the clutch switch ( there are two of them)and brake switch will de-activate/not allow Cruise Control Function... but I don't think they have effect on central locking system...
I have found that the maf affected my cruise, even without a CEL.
I had three codes from the MAF: P1109, P0103, and 5525 (torque transfer from DME disturbed at times). They would also cause PSM/ABS errors too....but only sometimes.

You can get the cloned hardware (adapter and cables) from just about anywhere now, I'll be listing my II as I just got a III. The software is downloadable from the planet 9 links. Worked fine for me, EXCEPT on the pdk on my Panamera, it tanked it during a calibration. Known issue....
The way I understand is that the III will talk to newer cars, where the II won't. So a III isn't a benefit on the 996. I am debating a newer Panamera and/or 991 in my future, hence why I moved up to a III.
The PST2 ( PIWIS 1 ) is the best for 996 albeit slow it is very durable and a little more info/functions for 996. When Porsche killed the PST2 and forced us to go to PIWIS 2 I did notice the missing features but in reality those features were never needed to diagnostics/repairs/troubleshooting..... I just thought they were kinda neat......PIWIS has tons and tons of info and functions.
PIWIS 2 will work on all Porsche models up to 2017 NOTE 991 up models require "on-line PPN licencing" to program keys-
PIWIS 3 will work on all models up until present
PIWIS 4 is the newest version.......
I have the Schwaben Porsche OBD tool available through Pelican Parts. It works very well and has more capabilities than I know how to use. I also have a Durametric tool which I have yet to hook up. The Schwaben tool is corded and I can use it while driving which I think is far more reliable than the cheap bluetooth-to-phone OBD readers. I have tried to use several of the cheap OBD readers that connect via bluetooth to your phone. The bluetooth connection is a PITA with difficulties connecting and staying connected and their capabilities are limited beyond clearing codes. The reason they are cheap is because they want to connect you to a repair shop to do the repairs.
