Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Was digging in to replace my motor mounts and found an additional component when I went to remove the secondary air pump.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Was digging in to replace my motor mounts and found an additional component when I went to remove the secondary air pump. I've been searching to try and ID the part, but haven't had any luck yet so thought I would check here. I'm working on a 2002 C4S. Apologies if it's part of a thread on here already and I just missed it. Looks a little like a catch can I've seen on other cars before but don't have any idea. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Look like the check valve that gets inserted into the intake

POST 3Original post

you can just barely see it in place at the 2 oclock position, just up from the yellow dipstick handle.

POST 4Original post

Either you have a valved sports exhaust, and someone did some funny stuff with the vacuum lines and added a vacuum canister (some of the instructions say to do that), or... more likely... someone re-located the vacuum canister from underneath the driver's side intake plenum... Perhaps there was a vacuum leak, and a mechanic took a shortcut to "replace" the vacuum lines by bypassing the original ones? /shrug

POST 5Original post

Are you talking about this? That’s a vacuum reservoir. It’s normally at the back of the engine near the AOS.

POST 7Original post

I think the new location is a better, anyway. Lucky you.

POST 8Original post

Yeah, looks like someone added the Sport Exhaust ( PSE) .. The Porsche Instructions say to hang it off the right side of the intake manifold, but that is a ****ty place to put it...
