Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone I was under the car today to inspect the exhaust system. A bolt is missing from the engine carrier plate. Ask me how I missed that one... Im wrenching on this car on a daily basis.... The small one in the bottom that goes through the exhaust braket: Im not really concerned about the missing bolt in itself but my understanding is that it goes thought the exhaust braket, engine carrier plate and engine block. The bolt is not broken inside it just seems that the last owner or his mechanic never put it back.... So judging by the look of it it seems that my engine has move a little bit further down then it should. The first diameter you see is the exhaust braket but the second one behind it is the carrier plate and the hole is the engine block The pictures are not telling much but there no way I could just buy a new bolt and thread it in directly. I would have to raise the engine by +/- 1/16th while the engine carrier plate is loose. Im not in panic mode just yet as I know the other engine carrier plate holes / bolts doesnt have much play all around. I know Im asking the obvious but should I dismantle everything to re-align the engine ASAP? Do you think this create stress point on the transmission mount , rubber shaft joint and driveshaft (c4s)?

POST 2Original post

Yes, you do have to support the engine with a jack, loosen the carrier bolts (not remove) then see if you can line that up. I remember when I replaced my water pump I had a hard time getting that bolt back in, lined up right. You might even have to drop your engine mount nuts down a couple of threads as well.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys It would be "easily" done now that I have my Custom made maple engine supporting braket 2000, hydraulic jack and 2 adjustables jack stand (bolt with acme thread) on each side. I think I found the "part" I need in my mix and match metric bolts. PN: 900-378-188-09 8.8 M6x20 Is there a problem if the bolt is Zinc treated?! I know the torque value will change a little due to the coating but any knowed issue in aluminum block? Dealer is at an hour from my place, stores around dont carry this type of bolt and I dont want to go to work during vacation ahahah I will have to get the torque value and I will probably do everything tommorrow morning. I will inspect everything as I traveled 150kms since WP service with the engine misplaced like this... Again no idea how I missed that one. Not proud of myself... The only good point is I never feel any difference before/after at any rpms, no unusal noises and so on.

POST 6Original post

@Os7213 Did you ever manage to get the torque spec for this bolt?
