Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Reported cause
My issue was the case for the spoiler drive had warped or changed enough for the switches to no longer make contact with the drive rack.
Leading evidence: 'case' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'case' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair process' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
What I ended up doing to solve the issue was cut down and shave off the molded-in pins that position the switches and made a plastic spring that would keep the switches in the right position.

Suggestion
I replaced both limit switches, and had to make modifications so the switches would float, and of course, had to source good drive racks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

New to the forum and find it incredibly helpful thank you all.
Having trouble with a new to me 03 base Carrera. The spoiler was working ok going up and down however it made 3 noticeable clicks whenever I opened or closed it. The clicks came at the end of the operating cycle. Read tons of threads on Rennlist suggesting spraying a lubricant into the black plastic rams which I did. Now, of course, the spoiler continuously clicks on the up cycle and the only way to stop it is to turn off the ignition.. it goes down without a problem. Not clear what it is but would like to repair it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sounds like your spoiler drive rack is stripped. Since the spoiler seems to otherwise go up and down, your situation, the limit switches are probably not working, or not making contact with the drive rack.
In my case, it was both. I replaced both limit switches, and had to make modifications so the switches would float, and of course, had to source good drive racks.
thanks @dck47, any suggestions on where to find replacement limit switches and racks? I saw a post on the limit switches with a part number but cant seem to locate it any l9nger!
I got my replacement switches from Mouser:
In my case, my switches actually ended up okay. My issue was the case for the spoiler drive had warped or changed enough for the switches to no longer make contact with the drive rack. What I ended up doing to solve the issue was cut down and shave off the molded-in pins that position the switches and made a plastic spring that would keep the switches in the right position. If you have access to PIWIS, you can check what the switches are doing to help diagnose the root cause of the issue.
