Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran a Sprint Booster with my engine when stock, and slightly modified and enjoyed the difference.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

It's done correctly in fact I even went slightly larger diameter and it still not much difference.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I'm looking at possibly doing a tune on the old 2001 C4. Car has 112K. I just had a bunch of items done at a local Indy (vario cam pads, chains, RMS, various pulleys, etc) and was thinking it would be fun to tune it for some minor burbles and maybe better drivability. It is a manual. I'm not looking for major power increases because well let's admit it, these cars just don't have a lot of power to begin with so it's a moot point anyway. I don't feel like spending a boat load of cash on one and wondering if there is anything anyone is using that they like and could recommend. Cobb, Softronic, etc........ I did a Softronic on my 991.1S and love it but just wondering if there is anything a little less expensive out there for this old dog?

POST 2Original post

There's not a lot that a tune will do for a stock M96.01,M96.02, M96.03. There are not that many options for tuning, COBB does not tune for the base 996. Softronic does tune for the base 996. IMHO it's wasted money unless you've made some serious performance updates. If it were me with a stock-ish 996, I'd look at the Sprint Booster, or other DBW throttle remap options. https://www.sprintboosterusa.com/ I ran a Sprint Booster with my engine when stock, and slightly modified and enjoyed the difference. During my engine rebuild, I gave the Sprint Booster to a friend with a stock 996 and he loves it.

POST 3Original post

Gotta agree with Tex. Since the 996 is naturally aspirated and not a turbo like modern 911s, Caymans and Boxsters, software can help to improve e-throttle response and dial in the power band to a point, but you arent looking at the bells and whistles that you will get with a turbo car. If you want gurgles the cheapest thing to do is get a gundo hack for sound and enhance your heal/toe skills. No complaints on my end. I prefer a naturally aspirated car to a turbo.

I did the Fisker hack and it really doesn't make a difference in sound. In fact I think I'll open up the sides of the exhaust and cut out the baffles to help with sound.

If it's done right it should make a huge difference. If you want louder, you can always go muffler delete. But that is REALLY loud.

It's done correctly in fact I even went slightly larger diameter and it still not much difference. I did the muffler delete and although sounds good between 2-4k, when you let off it sounds like a vacuum!

POST 7Original post

If you are looking for more sound, consider this for more more intake sound. Cheap and easy to do. https://flat6motorsports.com/product...cmmif4IAEAx2Ek

Hey Tex, where did you hide the fob so it doesn't interfere? Do you remember what settings you liked? I would be tempted to turn it up to 11.
