Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I cannot figure out where this oil is coming from. It forms but rarely ever hits the floor. Is it me or does there seem to be a crack shown in some of these pics?

POST 2Original post

I doubt it is a crack. Sealant between the two case halves that failed is more likely. The joint is right next to the drop.

Well, from your pics for me its impossible to tell anything as oil always flow down from the top so could be anywhere above. But since it never forms a puddle on the garage floor I wouldn't worry about it till it gets much worse, if ever.... Assume you've already checked the basic 996 oil leak culprits like the oil fill tube, AOS and all its connections/valves/breathers/tubes/hoses/etc. Then seems likely its coming from cases/valve covers/ engine covers/parts that haven't been perfectly sealed in your past rebuild. Its a time consuming, painstaking job to get cases/parts totally de-burred/clean/flat/dry and clamped together correctly with the right amount/type of sealer to make the perfect leak/seep free connection... jmho
