Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, everyone. Without going into too much detail, my dot-1 C2 has ended up with a set of refinished headlights that contain new (or at least new-ish) reflector dish units. They look greatno fog, no nothingbut the light cast is *extremely* blue. Is that due to the new units using LED bulbs, or have halogen bulbs just improved that much since the late 90s? Either way, what kind of bulb (LED or otherwise) do I need to warm things up again? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I heard from Adrian at Adrian's Taillights that new 996.1 headlights from Porsche had LEDs.

POST 3Original post

are these headlight new from porsche? or remanufactured / upgraded units? may be add some photos to help.

POST 4Original post

Halogen bulb in 996.1 headlight would be 12V, 55W, H7 PX26d socket. A blue tint on a halogen bulb would yield the blue hue and tries to immitate the typical light of xenon bulbs.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After doing some digging, it looks like @flipnidaho is right: they’re LEDs. (Not that Porsche made that easy to discover; I found it buried in the Porsche Classic UK site.) The good news is that they’re H7 units as @hardtailer said and can be swapped out for Osram LEDs with a halogen-like color temperature. So I guess I know what I’m doing next weekend! Thanks everyone!
