Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I just purchased my first Porsche. 2001 996 C2. I'd like to get an owners manual but the only place I can find one is ebay for about $150+. I found a place that has a 2000 996 manual for about $40. They're "out of stock" for the 2001 and saying discontinued. Won't the 2000 manual be basically the same as the 2001? Or should I get the proper one for $150?

POST 2Original post

Welcome and congrats on your purchase. You're gonna love it! I don't think you need to pay $150 for an owners manual. For that price you can get a workshop repair manual, which would be much more useful if you intend to do you own maintenance. Plus, you'll find pretty much all the info you need for most DIY jobs either here or on the Pelican website. If you really want the owners manual, I expect that there will be very minor differences between any of the 996 Gen 1 cars.

I got my 2001 manual here: http://www.automotion.com/genuine-po...1960-2002.html

POST 4Original post

Search around to see if there is a PDF version available for free on the Internet. I know all of the 928 owners manuals are.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, It's been 3 days now and love it like no other sports car I've owned. I plan on getting a workshop repair manual also. @Dinicod that is where I found a 2000 manual and am going to order it. @kcattorney I have searched and searched. Have found free PDF versions of 997's but no 2001 996. Thank's for all your help guys. Been browsing Rennlist for months and one of the first things I did after I bought my Porsche was become a member here.

Welcome and congratulations. By your sig I would say your too far for me to loan you my books to pursue. LOL I have only thumbed through them once to see if they were anything that I needed handy... Chcked the Stamp section and then put them in long storage in a big Freezer Ziplock. The 101 book from Pelican is very good for the basic to middle of the road work... And even some more complicated stuff you might want to do. If you need to have a shop book then get one... What could it hurt? It's just more reference for what ever your trying to do. Also look at the DIYs here and at Pelican... Great info from people that did it! (Super Helpful Actually)

POST 7Original post

Haha I appreciate it man. ITs been a wild week. I took the car for the IMS replacement and the shop missed something putting it back together. The coolant poured out of it but luckily I live close to the shop. Then the tow guy almost flipped my car trying to get it out the garage. Ended up denting my lower side skirt. The car was damn near flawless except for some paint fade and a scratch on the bumper. I have pics of everything. The shop also didnt do a long test drive, I informed them about my tracker and the proof I had and they are making everything right now.

WKD 996 021 01 is the P/N for the 2001 996 Owners Manual in US English. Not sure of all the differences, but Porsche does have a different P/N for each model year. Pelican Parts has one left in stock and they are clearing it out: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...996-021-00-OEM Here's one at Gaudin Porsche, it might not be in stock but if you place the order Porsche will print one for you. I just got one for my 2000 C2, it took 4 months to come from Germany: https://www.gaudinporscheparts.com/o...ns-wkd99602102

POST 11Original post

Is this still available? I am stuck on a coolant hose deep under the front end. Dr side, wow this thing is buried.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
