Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe I have earned the dumnb s award for this month .I am in the process of recarpeting and took the shifter out .I had marked the cables but in dragging the carpet out it took the markers along .Also it appears that I thought the car was in neutral and it wasn't .Here is the question -how do I find neutral ?I have tried a zillion combinations and can't .I guess the best way would be at the transmission -does anyone know the lever positions for neutral ? The shop manual is of no help and forum searches have been a bust Thanks Dave

POST 2Original post

OK I was under there today zip tying my errant cables.I took pictures of the transmission from the passenger side of the car facing the rear of the car the pictures are labeled. Hope this helps

POST 3Original post

The pictures are in the order top to bottom.Top is Neutral then first, second, third, fourth, fifth, six.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you .The pictures helped a lot and it's working .

POST 5Original post

Nice work, great to see how sharing info can help a fellow Rennlister.

This useful thread is often linked for the benefit of others with this 'pop-off' problem. There is one big precaution to take - use zip ties that are really high quality. The cheap ones go brittle quickly and snap.It is O.K. to test the fix with low quality cable ties but replace/upgrade them if it works. S/S ties would be a bad idea ? http://www.cabletiesandmore.com/extr...ature-ties.php http://www.nelcoproducts.com/cable-t...-12-cable-ties http://www.nelcoproducts.com/cable-t...es-18-lb-50-lb http://www.nelcoproducts.com/cable-t...mer-cable-ties
