I had it delivered and installed by a local commercial lift service company; two guys (father and adult son) had the lift unloaded, uncrated, assembled and adjusted in around 2-3 hours (I think it was closer to 2).

I use the lift for storing my 997 in the winter, and for juggling between cars in the summer - I've had the Porsche, the NB Miata, and my previous Cadillac CTS on it from time to time.

I've used it for fluid changes, inspections and will be replacing the exhaust on the 997 on it this week.

I'm a hobbyist - 99% of the time I'm changing wheels/tires/brakes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

My garage floor is angled down slightly from side to centre, and down from back to front; I didn't love the lean this created, so they came back a couple of weeks later and bolted it down to the floor using threaded inserts as I wanted the ability to move it if I needed to.

My only service/maintenance has been to use white lithium grease on the ladder, locks, and pulleys, and spraying some ACF50 on the mounting bolts and foot plates where they may get wet with salt water from the car in winter.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Do any of you who installed Tuxedo four post lifts in your garages have any regrets? Im thinking of getting one. They are way cheaper than some of the competition. I dont want to be left stranded with an unreliable lift that breaks. Thanks for input.
I have a four post Direct Lift which I think is similar to if not the same as the Tuxedo. I went with Direct due to the brand name and being owned by Rotary. I love it.
Ive been researching lifts a long time. First ask yourself this question.... How many companies do you think actually manufacture auto lifts?
Then think on this. After the Navy I worked in the cheese business. There are 3 or 4 companies that actually package cheese. How many brands do see in the store. You think BK, Wendys, McDonalds, Sonic, Subway etc all have their own cheese. Nope they all get it from the same company.
From what I can tell the Tuxedo lift is made and sold under about 10 different names. Look at specs, photos and drawings if you doubt this. Then there are other choices like Bendpak, etc.
Just relooked same lift sold as Bison, NSS, Eagle, ATD, Triumph etc... Its an 8,000 lb four post lift probably sourced from China if I had to guess. It comes as parts on a big ship and gets resold by a variety of dealers. The going rate seems to be $2200 on the better deals. Id love to see one up close.
Bendpak is a different product, so is backyard buddy and wildfire. Im not sure about Atlas.
You can find the generic 8K lift all over ebay, amazon and craigslist. Id love to see one in person.
what do you want it for? just storage? do you have room for a 2 post? 4 post is great if you are only looking for more capacity and don't want to deal with the slab, but there is nothing I can do on my 4 post that I wouldn't prefer to do on the 2.
You should assume that all Chinese four post lift at the same price points will 1) either made by the same company or 2) have the same level of quality.
Having said that, I have my Chinese 4 post lift ($2K) at the time last me 10 years now. I use it a lot, and all I had to replace was 3 cables in the last 10 years, 3 pulleys, 2 pins. Parts wear out.
4 post lifts are more space friendly if you have a smaller garage. Yes if you have the space, a 2 post is the clear winner, but you need width and height that isn't needed with a 4 post. I've laid a lot of painters tape in the garage and done a lot of measurements, and for me a 2 post is just too wide and too tall.
2 post for way easier access to everything - especially suspension, and anything that hangs off an upright. You can purchase trolley jacks for 4 post lifts, but at that point it's easier to just work on the ground. I'm a hobbyist - 99% of the time I'm changing wheels/tires/brakes.
4 post is fine for storage, and the install is much simpler. You also don't need the slab thickness. Some guys don't even bolt them down.
Mine's marketed as a "Peak" lift - but as mentioned, it's the same as all the chinese manufactured 4 posts.
I have both and the 4 post is mostly for storage, but is also great for work on the suspension with bushings loaded. I've also dropped the transmission a few times and prefer to do that on my 4 post, otherwise the two post wins. Anything involving tires, brakes and suspension is a 2 post job for me (except torquing with loads on bushings). Engine drop is generally on the two post because the 4 post has a crossbar that can get in the way.
I have a BendPak 4 post and a Danmar 2 post (mx6). For me the safety certification (SFI) was important, as was parts availability. Nothing worse than buying some private label tool that later needs servicing and you can't buy parts for it.
I have a four post lift in my old garage. The concrete on the floor is too old and not thick enough to support a 2 post lift which requires fairly new and thick slab. I have done engine drops, gearbox drop, suspension work, as well as storing cars on the 4 post lift. There is almost nothing I cannot do with a 4 post lift.
A 2-post would have been nice for all of the maintenance that I do myself, but my lifts primary job is still for storage so a 4-post still makes the most sense for me.
I agree with the above though. Ive done a clutch/flywheel swap on the 996 and a full driveline refresh (Clutch, torque tube, and transmission swap) on my 928 with my 4-post. Its still way better than dealing with jack stands.
My ideal solution would be to have one of each!
I know this thread is really old, but just thought I'd share my experience as I've now owned the Tuxedo FP8K-DX for over 6 years. I had it delivered and installed by a local commercial lift service company; two guys (father and adult son) had the lift unloaded, uncrated, assembled and adjusted in around 2-3 hours (I think it was closer to 2). They commented that the lift was well-built for a hobbyist/storage lift.
My garage floor is angled down slightly from side to centre, and down from back to front; I didn't love the lean this created, so they came back a couple of weeks later and bolted it down to the floor using threaded inserts as I wanted the ability to move it if I needed to.
I've also purchased an air bag jack (and may buy a second) to make seasonal tire swaps, brake work, and suspension work feasible on the lift. Of course, the car will not be resting on the air jack but rather jack stands or wood blocks.
Early on, I made the mistake of lowering when one lock had not fully disengaged, but I caught the misalignment immediately and learned my lesson - I am now really careful to confirm that all 4 locks are engaged when parking and disengaged when dropping the lift.
My only service/maintenance has been to use white lithium grease on the ladder, locks, and pulleys, and spraying some ACF50 on the mounting bolts and foot plates where they may get wet with salt water from the car in winter. I'm quite happy with my purchase and have no regrets.
