Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use a Canon 5Dmk3 and a prime 15mm 2.8 Zeiss lens - set the camera up to 4000ISO and exposure for 20secs - one take on a tripod.

but once the sun goes down you really have to watch out for kangaroos and wombats, they'll hop and run across the road when you least expect it, big bastards too!

During the 20 secs I used the key remote to open and lock the car doors so the blinkers would light up.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Took P for a late night drive a few hours away from city lights into a dark patch of sky. There's nothing like having all the roads to yourself while everyone else is sleeping. Unfortunately the majority of Australian wildlife is nocturnal so I did have to slow down for a few kangaroos.
cheers guys! Astro photography is a hobby of mine, have been wanting to take this shot since I bought the P but driving on Aussie country roads at night is like playing a game of Russian roulette with Kangaroos and Wombats.
hahaha
good call
Guess you'd need radar like what the pilots use to avoid those animals. But don't you think that if the car's steering wheel was on the left side, like it supposed to be, you'd be able to see better at night? I bet you're right handed and right eye dominant too, huh? hehehehe
I see the Southern Cross! (actually, I don't - but it sounds good)
Nicely framed. Did you have to dodge the lights of the car to make the sky stand-out with the shutter speed chosen? Is the ambient light above the car from Sydney?
The darkest night sky I've ever had was at a cabin in north New Mexico. Far from any metro area. I did quite a bit of photography, but only had my silly cell phone to use, so nothing very useful.
Cheers guys glad you'all like it!
To be honest being right handed as I am I find it far easier and more fluid shifting gears when I drive stick in Europe. Silly British and their quirks! Does anyone know why they chose to drive on the left? I've googled it before and it's a topic that comes up now and then on 'talk back' but nobody really seems to know why.
I did a bit of research on those tonight and most say it's just a gimmick, they're cheap though only a few $$ and guess that's what the companies that sell them are betting on that you'd buy one just because they're cheap. It would be great if they came with a guarantee 'we'll fix your car if you hit a roo' but they don't.
Thanks! To the far left (out of the frame) there was some night work being done on a stretch of the highway a few miles away, some of those lights were flooding across the fields lighting up some of the background and trees, however over the horizon all that cloudy light is from the Milky Way which is facing west away from the coast and Sydney. Other times of the year the Milky Way stretches way above the sky but that's during the middle of the year. I'll have to wait till next year to get one of those pics ... this is what it looks like but without the P (below).
Thanks! I use a Canon 5Dmk3 and a prime 15mm 2.8 Zeiss lens - set the camera up to 4000ISO and exposure for 20secs - one take on a tripod.
During the 20 secs I used the key remote to open and lock the car doors so the blinkers would light up.
Thanks for the info!
I've been working to get a good shot with the Milky Way like that, but haven't been at the right place with the right equipment just yet...
I captured this with my Sony RX100- not bad for a point-and-shoot!
Great photo.
I learnt to drive on the left - in the UK and did it for about 20 yrs.
Lived in Canada for the last 16 yrs and went back to the UK last yr and after driving on the right- it felt very weird and not correct at all.
Cheers! Yeah it's a British thing, I don't know why they have to be different? I go back to Spain to visit family every couple of years and always hire a car, I love getting into the car on the left and shifting with my right hand, it feels natural.
Ourkind: Your second pic looks outworldly! It is incredible. How lucky to be somewhere that the background lighting of humanity does not interfere with the natural beauty!
Thank You.
Regarding the beautiful star pictures...
As a Porsche 996 owner, we want those sparkly little dots to remain in the sky NOT in our filters.
Can I get a witness?!
Cheers!
Cheers! It's a bit of a drive to get out of the city lights, but 1 or 2 hrs out of Sydney and the skies light up with stars ... but once the sun goes down you really have to watch out for kangaroos and wombats, they'll hop and run across the road when you least expect it, big bastards too!
Of course be my guest
very much, just wish i could've caught the more of the Milky Way before it set behind the hills. Not to worry Milky Way season coming up in a few months
Cheers!
Cheers!
My word!
