I do check my engine compartment regularly after a hard drive checking for leaks, oil and coolant levels and amount of radiant heat (even though I have never had an issue).

His workmanship and personal interaction with his clients is second to none and if your looking for that German Sport car sound without compromising that quite smooth ride while cruising then I highly recommend Darin Fister.

Prior to getting the exhaust, i found that after a good hard run and parking the car in the garage with little air movement, the engine fan would turn on after a minute or so and run for 5-10 minutes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

My comment in my opening thread was more looking for comments from others since the engine compartment heat does seam significantly lower but as you mentioned, only time will tell with the typical running conditions that I had on hotter days.

Well heck, I talked to Darin also about a month ago and wanted to have him install a set on my car, not worth my time for what he charges to install, he told me he was going to take two week vacation for X-mas and to schedule something with him after the New Year....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know that there have been several threads on the Fister Exhausts (I have read most of them) which lead me to getting a set. When looking Fister Sport Exhaust on line I found that they were only 1 1/2 hours from me. I contacted Darin a couple of weeks ago and he was very informative. After chatting for about 15 minutes, I decided to order a set with the ceramic coating. I also learned that he installs (at a very reasonable price) so after comparing the shipping costs (both the new and my cores), I set up an appointment (for today) to have them installed.
Everything you have read on the other threads is absolutely correct. These mufflers have an outstanding sound when stepping on the gas but when at cruising speed are as quiet as the OEM mufflers. The only major difference is that I found myself shifting between 4500 & 6000 rpm's (I used to shift between 3500 and 4000) and also that you do not need the radio in your car anymore.
Two thumbs up for Darin. His workmanship and personal interaction with his clients is second to none and if your looking for that German Sport car sound without compromising that quite smooth ride while cruising then I highly recommend Darin Fister.
Congratulations - a great choice. I've not met him, but talking to Darin on the phone he is clearly the kind of guy you want to do business with. And you're right - Fister mufflers clearly hurt your gas mileage.
Ah... Amador County, CA. Grew up there in the 1970s. One of the best places in the world.
After hearing the way they sound on numerous YT vids, I'm planning on doing the Fister exhaust and I haven't even bought a 911 yet! Good to hear it's quiet at cruising speeds. I had Flowmasters on my old mustang and while it sounded amazing at idle & WOT, the drone at 70mph on the hwy made you want to shoot yourself.
I know what you mean. I have Flowmaster Double D's on my Charger RT AWD and although loud and deep the drone gets to a point where you cannot even carry on a conversation. No drone at all with the Fisters.
Well heck, I talked to Darin also about a month ago and wanted to have him install a set on my car, not worth my time for what he charges to install, he told me he was going to take two week vacation for X-mas and to schedule something with him after the New Year.... he was busy at the time, going have to call him and set something up.
Hey, you guys should try to coordinate the installs, and then we can turn it into a little meet. I bet Darin would get behind that.
FWIW, I had him install mine, too. It was my first mod
I don't know, Darin has two very nice air cooled Porsche's, do you think he would join us water cooled drivers, lol
But seriously, we should try to get together a Northern Cal ride or meet up some time. Does anyone know of a thread or link on this site to get the word out?
This was the first mod I did when I got my P car 3 1/2 years ago. Never questioned this decision. Car had a mild (yawn) drone, sounded gutless, even though it isn't. The sound now is what a 320 hp, high performance sport car should have. My mechanic comments frequently as to what a great sound for this car. He's an air cooled guy primarily and a compliment from him is to be regarded.
I 'm fortunate, living in Northern California, as I was able to have the pleasureable experience of meeting Darin and having him do the install. It is the best value mod available for these cars imho.
Well, got the call from Darin yesterday that my mufflers were ready, we agreed to do them at 10 this morning at his place. Some of you may know the weather has been the shiz here in No. CA. rain rain rain. got the mufflers on and they sound great, no drone, but mellow if you want them to be, and barking when you want them to bark. Darin is a great guy to deal with. almost lost the car on the way back home deciding to take the river road, because of the rain rain rain there were large puddles everywhere and very high river, so if one lost it hydroplaning he was in the drink for sure, I took it easy and not 5 miles from the house had a tree fall over a 1/4 mile ahead and blocking the whole levy road. had to backtrack to the last bridge and cross over to get on I-5 home. I highly recommend Darin and his Fisters muffler modification.
Can't wait to put the top down and listen to them.
Started this thread a couple of months ago after having the Fister exhaust installed but wanted to provide an update.
I was not convinced that the ceramic coating would make much difference but decided to have them coated anyways (even if just for the extra protection). I can now say (after several hard runs) that it appears that the ceramic coating does what Darin says it does. Prior to getting the exhaust, i found that after a good hard run and parking the car in the garage with little air movement, the engine fan would turn on after a minute or so and run for 5-10 minutes. This always bothered me since it was draining the battery and I never new when I would drive the car again.
The update: After several good runs and parking the car in garage since the ceramic coated Fister's were installed, the engine fan has not come on once. Just curious if anyone else has had the same outcome.
Maybe the fan is broken or the ambient temps are different then when you experienced the fans running before. BTW, 10 minutes of the fan running are not going to run down a battery that is not already on its last legs.
I also went with the ceramichrome option. Noticed a difference in heat output once car is garaged, in retrospect, I should have taken temp of cans before and after coating with my temp gun. I'll take some readings after a run and post them.
I should have also mentioned that I added the Fister mufflers with ceramic coating a year ago. I live in a hot climate and have not noticed any change in the way the fan operates when shutting down in the garage after driving. On 90+ degree days the fan does come on for a short period when parked in the garage just as it did before adding Fister with ceramic coating.
You are correct that the ambient conditions are a bit different now being in the winter months. I too have summers in the 90-100 deg mark and have used the car in 70 deg max since having the mufflers installed. I do check my engine compartment regularly after a hard drive checking for leaks, oil and coolant levels and amount of radiant heat (even though I have never had an issue). My comment in my opening thread was more looking for comments from others since the engine compartment heat does seam significantly lower but as you mentioned, only time will tell with the typical running conditions that I had on hotter days.
