So can the SAI change over valve.You won't be able to hear the change over valve operate with the engine running but turning it on and off with Durametric while the engine is running will cause a hiccup in the engine speed.

I've been a long time lurker, now I'm finally coming into the fray
I've owned a 944 for 12 years, so I'm not a total Porsche newb
I am also the recent proud 2nd owner of a 2003 996, yes, I know, pics will follow.
Now for the question, the 996 has PSE (BTW, the relay hack to keep it from cutting out between 25 to 45 mph is great, thanks)
But it has an intermittent chirpy squeak at idle and from about 2k down to idle that is making me nuts
The car has a recent RMS and IMS, so don't even go there
.
The local Porsche tech said the noise is coming from the valve in the PSE on the drivers side, and there is nothing that can be done.
The squeak sometimes goes away when I turn off the PSE, but mostly not
I'm hoping the forum brain trust here has come across this before, and knows of something besides keeping the windows up so solve this issue

so, just an update on the noise
I have noticed that it does not make the squeak when the exhaust is hot, only when cold, or restarting after it has sat for 15 min or so and cooled off after running
seems to be an expansion issue somewhere with the valve?

is the valve serviceable? maybe it has some carbon buildup that needs scraping off?
it's definitely in the valve for the diverter, this was confirmed on a lift with a mechanics ear.
I can sometimes get it to stop when i turn the PSE off
it's also only on the drivers side
There is a simple KOEO Durametric test for this.
