Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

carbon canister shut off valve ? I am getting a CEL saying that the carbon filter SHUT OFF valve is below limit. Can anyone point out to me this valve as I want to exchange it for a new one. I have changed the purge valve by the gas filler neck but now I am looking for the 'shut off' valve. I see at the top of the canister a plug which I have removed. I see now what appears to be a valve going into the canister. It twists about half a turn but does not come out. I am dammed if I can actually remove the canister for a closer inspection. I removed a bolt on the right of the canister but something is still holding it back from coming out. If someone can point out a video for removal of the charcoal canister removal I would appreciate any help.

ok 5CHN3LL I did manage to remove the top valve and this is actually the 'Purge Valve' not the shut off valve, so I will put it back and keep looking.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

F**K me now I see a page where they refer to the purge valve as the shut off valve yet when I pumped in the part number to google it bounced back at me as the PURGE VALVE with good photos of then same valve in my hand. The mind boggles. This must be the one I need to exchange. I think it must be leaking a little around the neck because when I removed it, the top was wet on one side around the "O" ring at the top. I just wished for certain is this valve the purge or the shut off valve. I don't see any more going into the canister.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They are calling this the shut off valve on some places and the purge valve on others that's the same part number as mine.

POST 7Original post

The diagrams on the page I linked includes the location of both valves. Since you've already replaced the one near the filler neck, I assumed the other would be the one you were after.

That's seems to be the only alternative. They are cheap enough so will buy one and try it. I am having more trouble with solving this C E L it's driving me nuts.
