Had a 987.2 that was bled repeatedly, put in a GT3 master cylinder, more bleeding, but until I used an NT-530 to bleed the ABS, the pedal was never firm.......

FWIW I changed the mater cylinder and ABS unit in my car and did not need to use the PIWIS to get it bled properly.

Don't need scantool to bleed brakes. Bleed brakes as normal. Afterwards find a dirt road and make a few stops with ABS working. Bleed brakes again.

I absolutely disagree. Had a 987.2 that was bled repeatedly, put in a GT3 master cylinder, more bleeding, but until I used an NT-530 to bleed the ABS, the pedal was never firm....... The question is not if its needed, i want to know if any scantool have the possibility. I have read about that several scantools only have the bleed cycle on the later 996 with PSM hoping for someone here to have experience with the early cars and brake bleed cycle.

The only scan tool that can bleed the 996 brakes is a PIWIS 2or PIWIS 3. Durametric says it can, but it doesn't work. FWIW I changed the mater cylinder and ABS unit in my car and did not need to use the PIWIS to get it bled properly.
