Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have '04 C4S and the leather seats have a problem - the little **** on the upper side that releases the seat back to tilt forward is missing/broken off. What do I have to do to put a new **** to make the seat tilt forward? Bently book has zero on seat internals. If anyone has taken a seat apart and has some wisdom to suggest I am all ears. Earlier A/C cars had a curved hook at the bottom that released a rod that went across the back-bottom of seat, then it tilted. Is the newer W/C car seats similar? TIA for any help. YMMV

POST 2Original post

Is it just the plastic that broke, or part of the mechanism as well? Does the handle on the opposite side of the backrest work?

POST 3Original post

Is the mechanism broken or just the plastic portion that slides into the metal tab? If you can move the metal tab with a screw driver, you can just source the replacement pull. I might have a couple in my parts bin, will check if that's what youre missing.

POST 4Original post

Probably its just the plastic handle, which I have to say is not very securely fastened to the metal underneath it. i pull mine off accidently all the time. The part number is 99652232201

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll check on it. No plastic piece on either side of both seats I might add. Some place had 1 side plastic so I got 2 of them. Idea, fix both seats with 1 lever and call it good. Parts were in a big order, hardly noticed, just more bits and pieces. I've been off on the front CV joint problem, lotsa suspension off the front to get the @%4*## axle out. New-to-me restored wheels off, cleaned blah, blah, blah. I tried (also new to me) the ceramic wheel spray stuff. WOW! That stuff is so simple, easy to do, slicker than baby seal! Yeah expensive stuff, but tiny amounts go a looooong way. Thanks for reply.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was looking for a little plastic piece that went "flying" when I was fighting the locked seat belt problem. Finally unbolted seat belt from floor, got some slack space and VIOLA! by magic, seat belt released, works OK. In rooting around the floor under seats I found another seat-tip latch. The # 99652232201 is for back seats, not main seats. Anyway, I did order and get one from FCP, ~$14, but it is the wrong one. How do I know? I found another seat-tip latch under seat modules and wires. It is different from the FCP one. There was a very small 1/16"x1/4" metal tab that I could see in seat slot. The original old one snapped right in and works. Amazing. On to other problems.
