I installed a center radiator behind the MK1 GT3 bumper but have not yet flipped it and cut in the top vents.

I installed the cup splitter and dive planes at the same time, so I can't comment how they are alone.

I've seen Joe's offerings on various forums and his facebook site, and it seems to be well liked (even if he gets a hard time from some people about his parts not being wind tunnel tested).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
Does anyone here have a Joe Toth splitter on their 996?
Can you share any photos and experience with it - installation, etc?
Has anyone installed one so it can be removed, like say with Dzus fasteners?
Thanks in advance.
Thank you, but Google doesn't answer my questions. There are like 6 pictures online, several of them reused across various places. None of theme are great shots.
I was curious if any fellow RLers have one and would be willing to share photos or pointers.

I've been in touch with Joe, and read lots about his stuff. I have one of his splitters for my 996 on order that will be arriving shortly.
None of the things I've seen address removable mounting. One of his other splitters (2 piece splitter for turbo?) has a removable lip. I'm wondering if anyone has installed a base 996 splitter in a similar fashion. Dzus fasteners seems like the right way to go, but I was curious if anyone had already tried this. If not, I will follow the standard installation instructions.
Thanks.
The standard 996 splitter is a one piece unit and isn't setup with the removable part like the two piece GT2 and GT3 units. Those other units have a vertical piece that mounts to the bumper and a horizontal splitter that is attached to the vertical part with dzus fasteners. For street driving you can run with just the vertical part, and attach the horizontal part when you go to the track. The base 996 unit is one piece and a best I can tell, is just bolted to the underside of the bumper.
I asked him quite some time ago about them for non GT or non Turbo cars.... no dice.
I have a MK1 aero that I would love to put one one but I don't think it will fit.
Isn't the front bumper on the 996 aerokit the same as the 996 GT3 front bumper? If so, it looks like this one might fit:
http://demonspeedmotorsports.com/996...cesplitter.htm
Or are they just similar, not the same?
I asked Joe via Fb if the GT3 1 pcs would fit the C2 and he said no. All the research I found showed the 1 pc C2 on a MKI. I have a MKII. I'd like to know if the single MKI will work on a MKII as well.
For some reason my tablet won't paste the link. Check out demon speed motorsports. They have the C2 splitter listed for 399.99. I'll try again later on the link.
Tarrett sells the one for the GT3/Aero for $299. They dont carry the one for the stock MKI C2/C4 bumper. Demonspeed has it listed for $399 but want $170 to ship it...
- no thanks
Hi,
Sometimes you need to contact us directly for good shipping charges. The system does not always handle the sizes very well.
The box is 70" x 29" x 3" on these, so they have a very high cubic weight/size.
I am all ears for a better way of shipping. We are not looking to profit from shipping what so ever. What does Tarett list for shipping of the GT3 splitter?
Also, we are heading to Watkins Glen for the SVRA/International GT race in a few hours. If you know someone going and want to have them bring it back to you, we can put one in the trailer. (I say this because it looks like you are in NY).
Thanks
Ed
Hi Ed,
Thanks for addressing the shipping charges. I know it's partially the size that causes shipping to skyrocket. This being said, I recently bought sideskirts that came in a similarly sized box to the one you quoted and it was somewhere around $60 to ship (not sure if they came from Cali. though...). Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone going to WG...
They are Joe Toth dive planes. I installed the cup splitter and dive planes at the same time, so I can't comment how they are alone. Certainly noticeable difference with both going through turn one at Pacific Raceways at 130+.
You could also reach out to Joe Toth directly on his Facebook page. He's very responsive.
The Joe Toth 996 splitter I got from Demonspeed was for a non-aerokit 996.1. It did not fit my non-aerokit 996.2, there is too much difference in the shape of the bumper and it simply doesn't fit, not even close.
In my back and forth with Ed and Joe, I got the distinct impression that this only fit the base 996.1 and Joe isn't looking to make other 996 splitters. But who knows, maybe he'd change his mind if there was enough demand?
The splitter was really well made, and I'd highly recommend one, if you can get one to fit your car.
Many thanks, i already run the Cup splitter.
If you running a centre rad, the Cup bumper vent and GT2 chimney make a difference on reducing front end lift, particular at speeds of 100+
I can confirm the Joe Toth 996 Splitter will only fit the non-aerokit 996 bumper. It does not fit my MK1 GT3 bumper. Looks like Fyeun001 has adapted the MK2 cup splitter to fit the MK1 GT3 bumper - I might try that. Would be very interested to see Evil Bunny's Cup bumper vent and chimney setup. I installed a center radiator behind the MK1 GT3 bumper but have not yet flipped it and cut in the top vents. Could be a good off-season project for Kermit.
