RennRun 2018 Dates Announced

Due to low registration, RR '18 is getting the boot. I'll try again next year with a late spring/early summer date. ---------------- Hey, folks: For those of you who were around and haven't smoked that part of your brain, last year was the first annual RennRun of 996 enthusiasts (and anyone else who needs an excuse for The Vegas), a Friday-Sunday meet-up in Vegas for 996 folks (and pretty much anyone else looking for an excuse to hang out with like-minded folks). The dates for this year's RennRun are September 28 through 30. A flyer, more info, and a first go at an itinerary will be posted up here shortly. Most scheduled activities will happen Saturday and Sunday, but those of us who roll in on Friday can meet up Friday night for some pre-drinking. I'll be there, (I'm kinda already there ), I'll do my best to help plan some fun drives and activities.

2018 event will be shifting into high gear in the coming weeks. Last year was a blast and had a lot of the RL guys meeting each other for the first time in person.

To clarify, the bulk of the scheduled activities will take place Saturday and Sunday, but we'll schedule some kind of drinking fiasco for those of us who roll in Friday night.

Will one of the organizers make a facebook event?

For what it's worth, our local section of the Mercedes club has used Motorsportreg.com for events of all kinds. You can collect credit card payments, handle all the registrations and credentials etc. There is a small charge for the transactions, but we just build it into the cost for the event. It's worth it to have control over what goes on. Just a suggestion.

Dates have been finalized and itinerary should be finalized in the next week or so. Front of the flyer is ready, and back is forthcoming.

Hey! Where were you guys exactly one year ago this weekend? Weird, but that red car with the missing side marker light looks vaguely familiar for some reason. Anyway, I'm planning on attending. And I'll cross the desert without a spare tire. Voodoo curses be damned!

Spouses are welcome, but if they're not interested in cars and "car talk" then I can't make any promises about the boredom. The event is in Vegas, so she can go spend all of your money while you're zipping around in the desert with us. Yep, but this one is free to attend, and the 996 is the belle of the ball at our event. I see it is same weekend as Rennsport Reunion hope you guys have a great event I will hold down the 996 fort at RR 6 as I was just notified my 2000 996 VIP Becker Supercup Car has been accepted to run in the 2018 Rennsport Reunion hope there are other 996 variants in my run group we will see when run groups are announced. Rich

so i mentioned this reunion to my wife, just as a "hmmm, that might be fun" she has since brought it up 2 times asking "so when is this?" and "is it mostly driving tours?" I think i have her gears turning - is there an itinerary up yet She did say for me to go on the tour and she will spend the day shopping and spending $$$, but i may have to drag her with me for the sake of my bank account

We already have the rough itinerary made. DR is working on the final touches on it. He should have it done in the next week or so.

I am going to be out of town the next few months (for a back surgery) so I won't be able to go by and ask them in person. to be honest, that event has been dying... last time I went there were less than 10 cars. that was in the winter, so it may have picked back up.... but really, after that bad accident at the track, the event was canceled for a few months, and it just never returned to full strength after that accident but a lot of the "action" has moved back to the old location and is called the car show on eastern.

I have been to the car show on Eastern ,there are a lot of cars there .It's a nice set up,had free pizza last time which was a nice touch.

Three months to go.

I hope to have found a 996 by then.

I am back in Vegas post surgery, but still have about 4 weeks of recovery left and am moving slowly (still can't drive Bertha yet) - but I should be full speed by the time RennRun rolls around

Even if you can't drive Bertha we'll figure out a way for you to join in on festivities. Glad to hear you're back!

Anyone have a recommendation of where to stay, if not specific hotel then what part of town would be most convenient? Looks like SV is pretty far south of town and that day drive is s/w of LV. Sunday is SE and E of LV? Where are group dinners being planned, that will have a lot to do with where to stay. Its only about 4 hrs from here to LV so this might be doable. The following weekend we are off to ABQ for the balloon festival so would have to head home Sunday afternoon, maybe after Valley of Fire drive.

I think most folks stayed on The Strip last year, can't recall where - as I'm local I always suggest people stay downtown; cheaper rooms, cheaper drinks, cheaper food. The D, and the Golden Nugget have nicely updated rooms. but let one of the other folks chime in on where they're staying.

I'll probably stay on the strip - lots of stuff to walk to once driving is no longer a good idea.

I am still slowly recovering from back surgery - so can't commit to how many activities I will be able to participate in. at a minimum: I will be at the morning events.... and hopefully I can drive Bertha.

Welp, the event this year is a bust. Several "regulars" were forced to cancel, and the post-back-to-school date turned out to be a lousy choice. Thanks for your interest...we'll try again come spring!
