This is not a probability of success.

The digital MPH readout contained in the same cluster section does show my speed (though when compared to GPS seems to be a bit optimistic), and the odometer advances correctly, so I don't think my issue is the same as what I've been able to find here on the forums where people have had speedo + odo go out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello there! I recently became the proud new owner of an '02 C4 Cab. Nearly everything on the car is mechanically very sound, with a small handful of cosmetic and trim issues I'm going to work through. The first gripe I'd like to address just because of annoyance is that the speedometer doesn't work! This being the analog speedo: the dial. The digital MPH readout contained in the same cluster section does show my speed (though when compared to GPS seems to be a bit optimistic), and the odometer advances correctly, so I don't think my issue is the same as what I've been able to find here on the forums where people have had speedo + odo go out. Just the analog dial itself does not work. Is there a common cause for this? The past owner did wire in an aftermarket head-unit, and I'm aware that there is some interplay between components there, but I would think an issue with that wiring would also put the kibosh on the digital readout. Or (and I presume this is the case) do I just need a new cluster or to sort out an issue internal to the guage itself? Thanks! Figured I'd ask before I start tearing my dashboard apart. -Arthur
