Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Instead of using the self tappers I used 3M double sided tape (for automotive exterior use) and stuck the strip on.
Leading evidence: 'Use 3m double sided tape (for automotive exterior' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). At the bottom I used clips and screws as intended.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 98mod 996 with stock bumpers and rear wing. I would like to change that to a GT3 style front bumper and the "taco" rear wing. I don`t think i would like to mount the GT3 style side sills. Is there anyone that has pictures of this setup?
You are correct, do not look good. I will have to go for the side skirts then.
How is the side skirts attached to the car? Some sort of glue or is it screws?
An alloy strip (#4 in pic 8) is attached using self tappers straight into the sheet metal...
That strip provides a ledge behind which the upper edge is put into.
At the bottom the spot welded flange gets metal clips put on, to which the bottom of the skirt is screwed onto.
Instead of using the self tappers I used 3M double sided tape (for automotive exterior use) and stuck the strip on. I used it also to attach the upper edge directly to the body (like Porsche did later in the life of 996.1 and all of 996.2 aerokit side skirts).
At the bottom I used clips and screws as intended.

(Skirt lies on its side)
I just had the drivers side gen 1 aero side skirt replaced with porsche hardware - cost is crazy high and there was no passenger side available in the USA . The body shop showed me how it was attached and removing the old one destroyed it and old glued they used to attach it was a big job to remove. Thousands to R&R and repaint - thank goodness for insurance!!
I didn’t mind my 996.2 with Aerokit front bumper and taco wing.
But I kept thinking it would look better with side skirts, so I added them and I’m glad I did.
Both pictures above are seal grey just in different lighting.
My car has been through many changes since I bought it.
I no longer use the taco deck, it’s been packed away in my attic for 5 years now.
It now sports a GT3RS carbon fiber wing.
Man time flies!
