Suggestion · Original poster

The codes indicate that all four of my O2 sensors are bad, and that my car is running too lean (possibly MAF is also bad), which I find strange, although possible.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, Recently purchased a 99 , 996 Coupe , MT. It was a good price and I saw it had some codes. See below . So far I noticed that the oil filler pipe is cracked. Car isles fine, runs fine. Does about 16 mpg semi aggressive city driving. Any thoughts?

POST 2Original post

Do you have a check engine light on? It does not seem that you have one as it shows "no trouble codes are detected".....can't figure out what you are really posting.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

CEL light is on, the codes at the top are confirmed , there no pending trouble codes.

POST 4Original post

I would search the codes in this forum or on the internet using "Porsche 996" in the search term. I doubt it would be hard to find the answer.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, I guess I did a terrible job wording the question. The codes indicate that all four of my O2 sensors are bad, and that my car is running too lean (possibly MAF is also bad), which I find strange, although possible. I was wondering, given that I have a cracked oil filler tube, if that could explain the issue, or if they are completely unrelated. Thanks!

POST 6Original post

Obviously you need to cure the crankcase vacuum leak from the cracked filler tube before you do anything else. Then reset codes and see what happens. One step at a time would be my advice.

POST 7Original post

Duct tape your fillter tube crack till you install your replacement. Its a pain in the *** job. Perfect timing, as autoatlanta has 25% off.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14626555

thank you , I figured thats the answer , I appreciate the support. Now to bang the crap out of that alternator

I broke a plastic coolant line that's directly next to the altenator while removing the altenator (PN 996-106-226-52-M100). So watch out for that too! Pelican Parts sells a billet replacement if you do happen to bump into it...

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14626898

Thank you! I actually read somewhere on the forums that over 90% of mechanics break it (possibly exaggerated) but I know that meant 100% chance (real number) that I would break it . So I ordered it Tuesday, just waiting for it
