I am using the VHT paint which from what I have read is the same as Duplicolor (made in the same factory just different label on the can).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just pulled my calipers off to rebuild them. The previous owner painted them red but as you know from the factory they were black. Here's what they look like after ten track days this past summer since I've owned the car...the heat and frequent bleeding really ate them up. I really like the red look ony midnight blue car but should I repaint them red or black? I have a media blasting cabinet and can prep them certainly much better than the last owner who clearly painted them on the car. Would black hold up better or should I not worry about the color as any color might get trashed from brake heat? Opinions?

POST 2Original post

Paint them black and move to the next project Black will hide the dirt better and not look so used IMO, good luck!

POST 3Original post

paint them whatever color you like best. I just had mine rebuilt and painted yellow to match my car. THey used to be metallic green from a previous owner.

POST 4Original post

If you put on new PORSCHE decals, I would not recommend clear coat over them. I used a high-temp caliper clear coat spray on top of my decals. I thought it would help secure them in place. The problem is that the clear coat yellowed with the heat, making the decals appear yellow.

That's great advice especially b/c I already ordered VHT caliper paint and the gloss clearcoat. Did the clear coat yellow everywhere else as well? As in should I clear coat the paint, then apply the decals or skip the clearcoat all together?

POST 6Original post

Well, I painted my calipers red, so if the clearcoat yellowed there, I couldn't really tell. I guess it probably did yellow everywhere. It was really noticeable on the white decals, though. I used duplicolor high-temp engine enamel clearcoat. The calipers were painted red with a brush-on caliper painting kit from Duplicolor. FYI, I did this about 4+ years ago, and things are still looking good except for the visible yellowing of the white areas.
