Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had the top open today troubleshooting another problem and saw this disconnected wire: I didn't disconnect it and have no idea how long it's been disconnected. I CANNOT figure out where it connects. I've looked all over for 2 male plugs with a bright light and don't see one. The two wires leading into it are brown and grey with a green stripe. I've tried to find pictures online of this section that holds the relays, DME, hydraulics, etc. but nothing shows a picture this far left (driver's side). The wire is pretty short and can't go far but I'm at a loss. Top closes fine; when the top is open and I'm storing it, I've got about a half inch gap from front of the rear bow to the weatherstripping edge. Any help or especially a picture would be most appreciated. 1999 996 (Built Sept 1998); 41K miles.

I'm totally guessing here... it's the wire for the hard top dome light.
