The JBL Speakers in the front/rear (the fronts to be replaced by 4OHM Audisons) are 3Ohms, so they, too, will be fine.

The rear speakers are generally used for "fill" to pull the sound stage back.

Or do I not have to be really concerned about this since those speakers are more "fill" anyway, especially with the top down and the wind blocker occupying the back seat space.

I have a 996.2 Cab where I already upgraded to an aftermarket high end kenwood head unit, a 10" sub with seperate amp, and replaced the front/rear BOSE speakers with some low ohm (and not expensive) JBL speakers to use with the stock Bose amp. It sounds pretty good, though still not amazing at volume with the top down.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey All,
I have a 996.2 Cab where I already upgraded to an aftermarket high end kenwood head unit, a 10" sub with seperate amp, and replaced the front/rear BOSE speakers with some low ohm (and not expensive) JBL speakers to use with the stock Bose amp.
It sounds pretty good, though still not amazing at volume with the top down. I just bought a Kenwood 5ch amp and Audison APX 4 speakers to put in the front dash. Will I have any harmonic or other issues if I pop those in, but leave the JBL speakers in the rear? Or do I not have to be really concerned about this since those speakers are more "fill" anyway, especially with the top down and the wind blocker occupying the back seat space.
Or should I replace ALL of the 4" speakers????? Thx!
I'm leaving the original Bose door woofers alone.
Thank you. While I appreciate the answer, this was not quite what I was asking to see answered.
The new amp is 4 Ohm, but 2Ohm stable. It will power the door woofers at 2Ohms just fine. The JBL Speakers in the front/rear (the fronts to be replaced by 4OHM Audisons) are 3Ohms, so they, too, will be fine.
My question was - will I have a problem with the JBL's in the rears not being the same speakers as the Audisons in the front (or, theoretically, any aftermarket front speaker vs keeping the stock rears - same question). Will there be a harmonic mismatch.
is that just between the mid and the tweeter of the Bose? Or does it apply to aftermarket?
in other words, if Im about to install new front and rear aftermarket speakers, should I switch the positive & negative leads for the rears?
TIA
I don't think it matters much. Just adjust the rear speaker level down in the head unit or at the amp. The rear speakers are generally used for "fill" to pull the sound stage back. Ideally you would want to have matching speakers, but there is no harm in giving it a try and see if you like what you hear.
