I tried installing a set of these last month to replace my sagging original mounts.

There is a crush sleeve to preload the urethane pucks....this can be altered to change stiffness but no one has needed to change so far.

said, I had some trouble as the bolts that run through the carrier mount seem to be a little shorter than the OEM mounts.

Is this a deal-breaker, probably not for most use-cases, but I would not want to gamble on this.

We use a very soft, but large, custom formulated urethane bushing on either side of a steel base plate, the billet spacer at the bottom locates the motor plate (vertically), the billet on the top side is functional and also for looks.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I somehow stumbled across these motor mounts. They seem like great construction, as well as low price. Kinda checks all of the boxes for me too - not any more harsh than OEM, but more solid and long-lasting. Curious if anyone has any experience with these? They seem just inexpensive enough that I'm going to give them a try -

These look pretty good and may be worth a try. Curious what material is being used. Some sort of rubber or soft polyurethane? Looks like there's a lot of it too which could be how he's able to dampen much of the vibrations. I'm happy with my RS ones but would give them a go if I was in the market.
File under If it seems too good to be true, it probably is !!!
I wonder how they performed better than stock (what does this even mean?) but are no harsher🤔😏
Just got a response from the owner of the company:
"
They are pretty simple. We use a very soft, but large, custom formulated urethane bushing on either side of a steel base plate, the billet spacer at the bottom locates the motor plate (vertically), the billet on the top side is functional and also for looks. There is a crush sleeve to preload the urethane pucks....this can be altered to change stiffness but no one has needed to change so far. We had thought about doing an aluminum base plate, but the weight savings was minimal and these are a few ounces lighter than the stock mounts already. Truth is, all of the other aftermarket motor mounts simply copied each other to make the same terrible, over priced, mounts (although they can look very nice). Our goal is to build real-world functional parts and price them accordingly. I only build/sell parts that I put on my own cars...and I'm very picky."
The durometer of the bushing poly would tell the tale. Hard to do a comparo without proper data. Historically, too hard causes issues with knock sensors in some M96 engines, while other engines dont hiccup at all.
Totally agree. Gives me way more confidence now. I'm definitely giving them a try - probably going to order this week/weekend. I'll give my feedback when I get them installed!
Ive got a set of RSS mounts for sale if youre looking. Barely used.
To be fair, Im not sure Id believe any of the not any more harsh than OEM stuff. The RSS mounts were good but not as smooth/quiet as the OEMs I just installed.
Everything is a trade off.
Crazy that you guys posted this tonight. I literally just finished installing a set of these. The guy that makes them is freaking awesome and they seem to be made pretty well. The only thing I didnt like is how short people was that goes through to the engine carrier, that could also be install error but Im pretty sure I did everything right. Im going to reach out and double check. Heres pics from the install and the bolt Im talking about as well.

After spending an afternoon trying to make them work I ended up having my Indy install a set of OEM mounts while they were in for another job. That said, construction seemed solid
I ended up getting a hold of Greg from PRG. He said that they've never had issues from those 19mm nuts in my picture. He also offered to send me some shallower ones free of charge to bring me some peace of mind. I took the car on its first drive and I can say I noticed a huge difference, especially at idle. The shifts are smooth, the idle is smooth, and they look pretty cool (I wish that wasn't a factor but it always is for me lol). My old ones had leaked hydraulic fluid and it was riding rough, especially at idle. Thanks to Greg from PRG for being so cool and for providing a great product.
I really don't like the way the cage is designed - not covering the entire hole Porsche intended for the mount. The forces from supporting the engine want to bend the mount deeper into that hole, so with how small the bolt tabs are holding the mount into the chassis, you'll be effectively putting a chisel on the steel right next to the bolt hole. That's not a force that the Porsche engineers planned for.
Is this a deal-breaker, probably not for most use-cases, but I would not want to gamble on this. Notice how OEM, RS, RSS, Rennline etc all cover the entire hole to reduce the leverage that loads have on the bolt holes.
Yep thats my concern with these as well. Would be curious what a force diagram on these mounts looks like through different driving inputs but the fwd/aft forces on these mounts will fatigue that metal and likely cause a failure at some point or another.
I've never ridden in one with RSS mounts but I've heard all of the groans about the overly rough ride. I can say that it ride very smooth and does not feel overly aggressive or tracky to me, if that makes any sense.
I guess that they haven't truly been out long enough to have any hard studies done on the long term impacts on the metal surrounding the mount. I definitely see the concern though, and will probably check it every couple of months to see if there is anything that sus.
