Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

We used them when I worked at Lexus for used car trade-ins.

Suggestion
When it comes to these cars, I'd only recommend a good body shop with a dedicated humidity controlled paint booth and one that could computer match the paint to your car.

In fact, I'd use Maaco before using one of those mobile paint guys.

As the title states any of you guys ever use a mobile body shop service ?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As the title states any of you guys ever use a mobile body shop service ? I have a quarter sized ding on the hood that has broken the paint . Also have a ding and some crazing on the front bumper . Nothing major just small stuff .
I have gone to three conventional body shops near our rural community and they are swamped and booked solid . With spring around the corner I would like to get this work done . So have any of you used a mobile service ? Good or horrible ? Car is a 99 C4 996 black paint code L741 .
I use mobile PDR guys all the time. In fact, I'm going to see him today because my daughter let the door slip on our SUV and it dinged my car.
Mobile PDR is one thing, but I personally would NOT do auto paint outside. When it comes to these cars, I'd only recommend a good body shop with a dedicated humidity controlled paint booth and one that could computer match the paint to your car. In fact, I'd use Maaco before using one of those mobile paint guys. With all the temperature fluxes outside, I can't image the paint ever looking perfect especially during the winter months.
We used them when I worked at Lexus for used car trade-ins. Some colors are easier to deal with than others but Id really look at references for their work. Black can be pain to match/blend.
PDR is fantastic but youll always have to detail the whole car afterwards because the area they worked on will usually look cleaner than the surrounding areas so consider that too.
Many years ago I needed an automatic car due to needing a hip replacement. I traded in my honda accord and 4runner and got a used, couple year old subaru outback. It had some paint missing from rear bumper (12" x 4"). A mobile PDR guy that paints too touched it up before I picked up the car. I only planned on owning the Outback until I recovered from the hip replacement.
I ended up keep that car for 8 years. Bullet proof. Racked up 200000 miles. Only repairs were a set up switches for the driver control, 1 driveshaft and the signal stalk.
The pdr paint repair was not noticeable, never peeled and look great still when I traded in the outback. Car was touched up in dealership parking lot. I was very surprised by both the quality of the colour match and the fact that it never peeled or ever became noticeable.
Update: I have three quotes from traditional brick and mortar body shops . They are 1600 , 2000 and 2500 . The shops at 1600 + 2000 are booked for months . The one for 2500 can get me in the end of this month . He has 40 years experience and is a Porsche guy .
I have a verbal quote based on pics I sent to a mobile guy . He stated for a high end car he would do the work at his shop approx an hour away . His price 700.00 . I asked if his shop is insured for theft/fire and he said fully insured . I have made no decisions I am still digesting the info .
Very curious replies,
I currently support Motorcars of Atlanta, am certified with Lambo, Mclaren and Rolls and Porsche( including new car). Also support the local Cirrus dealership on their light aircraft. Highly sought after, with endosements from celebrities on down. Have been in business for 32 yrs and no longer advertise my services because of volume and demand. Just surprised at the negativity.
I have no dog in this fight, my opinion is based on experience. We're not trying to spew negativity, we've just had negative experiences with this line of work.
Are you solely mobile paint service or have a full body shop? If you're mobile with that tract record, you are definitely an exception to the case. With the demand you noted, obviously you do quality service. Keep up the good work!
I am in Dahlonega , any chance I can send you a few pics to get some advice/suggestions ? You can PM me your cellphone number and I can send some pics .
Ive used the Painless Dent guys a couple times, always shocked at how the ding is just gone.
It does not work if there is much creasing or any paint damage, and it is possible to end up with a chip if the paint got over stretched.
My brother bought a toyota with some hail damage, had about 10 dimples in it, the guy was ther one day and fixed the hood/roof/trunk couldn't tell it had ben touched.
Looking back on this, I can not agree with you more. Things have changed and work ethics are not the same, many no longer concern themselves with ongoing training or even updating knowledge on present techniques, materials or applications. Look for online recommendations and referrals.
