Depending on where you live and how you drive you can have an H6,7 or H8. IMO H8s are over kill for most applications. You pay more and they are heavier. A good battery maintainer like a CTEK should be used for extended absences or down time. COSTCO sells Interstate batteries but do not install.

Just curious what battery comes fitted new?...amps? My local dealer says 70 amps.

Get an AGM battery. No off gassing. Why are you only concerned with amps? Clean up your battery tray while in there. I had mine powder coated at a local shop.

It depends on the region the car was sold in, some had stronger batteries from the factory for cold winter climates.

If you buy a AGM, check carefully, most still have a vent port in case they have a problem. (Spending on manufacturer) Always good to have the vent dumping to the ground..

So, I just brought my dead OEM battery to the store for replacement and the OEM was definitely a H5. I bought an H6 as a replacement because that's the size at least 2 auto parts websites recommended and what I'm seeing here on Rennlist. Hope it fits OK. Just FYI, I have a 2016 Cayman GT4 that I bought new in October of 2015 so I got 9.5 years out of the OEM battery.
