Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The precat O2 sensors were replaced last Thanksgiving, and tonight I just didnt capture all the O2 values.

You guys were right, smoke test showed that the clown that put the engine back in the car forgot to tighten the two hose clamps on the right of the throttle plenum.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2004 996, manual transmission, 103k miles, and I've got a "slight shake" at idle.
With my PIWIS 3 setup, the misfire counters are all Zero, the idle is steady, car runs fine, but there is a shake you can see in the mirrors while at a light......
The uneven running reference value shows 23.6, but I have no idea what it means......
Motor mounts were replaced 24k miles ago, transmission mount was replace 20k miles ago, maybe they went bad again?
It's a street car, no track/autocross.
Fuel pump died a couple months ago, and after it was replaced I felt like the car was smoother, but now it's back to the slight shaking....
Thanks for any words of wisdom
-Eric
In the San Jose area I can't get better than top tier 91. Mostly Chevron, or 76........ I have run some of the redline fuel injector cleaner, but did not notice an improvement......
Thanks.
-Eric
Post up the short and long term fuel values. This will give us a clue on how its running. Could be a vacuum leak or just loosish rings or nothing at all.
The following was taken at idle, car was still warm from the commute home, so hopefully warm enough for the values to be useful. Let me know if I missed anything.
thanks again for the help
-Eric
The first thing i see is a maf is around 11 and should be 16.5ish. Also o2 should not read 1.0 but im not sure where that value is pulled from. Usually a 1.0 is a dead sensor.
The precat O2 sensors were replaced last Thanksgiving, and tonight I just didnt capture all the O2 values. MAF being low could be a vac leak, or bad sensor?
Ill get more O2 data.
Anything obvious in the FRA and RKAT values?
-Eric
Your Rkat between bank 1 and 2 seem to be off. I cant remember if that value is suppose to be close to 0 or 1 but they should not be that far apart.
I would also like to see the 2 precat o2 in a graph as i hit the gas pedal to make sure they follow each other
Oxygen sensing is also fine. It should be exactly 1 and fluctuate at worst around 1.04 max when accelerating...
Engine temp is very high. Does your fan on the rear spoiler work?
My scanner interprets the values differently so i think this is what is confusing me. I see the rkat as a % and the o2 values as voltage between 0-1. Though the o2 line item shown may not be the one u am used to seeing.
Gonna take it for a drive to get more O2 sensor data this evening.
Any other helpful data I should get?
Thanks again for the help. Sunday Ill be able to smoke the engine..
-Eric
Minor setback on the data collection.. after 30 minutes of trying to get my PIWIS 3 going, gave up went inside and found the adapter cable feeling very loose.. gonna try and get it soldered back on tomorrow at work..
-Eric
I don't know if you are using a Virtual Machine or not for PIWIS. If you're not using a Virtual Machine, you can connect to PIWIS via Wi-Fi. Buy an OBD extension cable if you're using your USB port
I fixed one of those a couple weeks ago. The solder from the factory was quite crap. There was not enough heat in the connector body to reflow the lead-free solder. I redid it with 63/37 and it should last forever.
I couldnt figure out how to get the VM to connect to the device over WiFi.
And I completely agree, **** poor soldering job, combined with the board not supported well in the case.
For giggles I actually complained to the vendor at AliExpress, they requested pics, and video and are going to get back to me.. who knows.
-Eric
Same issue and it was $1 cheaper for me to buy another one shipped from china then it was to ship it 350mi both ways for
@theprf
to fix it , but now i have 2

You guys were right, smoke test showed that the clown that put the engine back in the car forgot to tighten the two hose clamps on the right of the throttle plenum. My bad. The brake booster elbow has a small leak, cleaned it, but need to replace it this week.
Still need to fix the PIWIS 3 box, this week project.
Thanks again!
