Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace 996' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 996' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

He used an AIM pda (dash and power distribution) and connected it to a stand alone engine harness.

I just need some insight into what works for a harness and if its possible to do as a person with tiny knowledge or should I just try to run the motor on a harness separate from the body harness etc etc

You can use the 996.2 egas pedal with some special changes to the software to accept the pedal.

Or you can just use a GM pedal with 3D printed bracket if you can find one.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone ever done the LS swap? Im in the middle of one currently and im leaning toward wiring up my own engine harness because CPE costs $2800 and I don't have that currently. If anyone has any notes they could share that would be wonderful the most daunting task is figuring out how to retain the OEM pedal with a DBW setup other than that im ordering the Bentley diagram book on 996 911's. Thanks for all help that can be shared.
There's a few of us that have LS swapped the 996. You'll need to do a lot of reading:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-ls1-swap.html
CPE buys their harness from Wiring Specialties. You can save a lot of coin by just approaching them directly. CPE doesn't really make anything unique for the 996 and 997 swaps. Renegade Hybrids makes some decent parts but between CPE and RH almost all their non-custom parts are OEM pieces with a big markup. Just buy what you need that's custom and get everything else from eBay, RockAuto, etc.
FWIW, the 996.1 doesn't really need a new harness. The 996.2 is much more complicated as far as that part of the swap goes. If you read my build thread you'll find details on almost everything.
If you're trying to do this on a budget, you'll need at least $3k for clutch and adapter, add $2k-$4k for exhaust/cooling/packaging/accessories/etc. and then the engine cost. If you can, buy a 58x engine. You can use the 996.2 egas pedal with some special changes to the software to accept the pedal. Or you can just use a GM pedal with 3D printed bracket if you can find one. DBW is much better than DBC.
Good luck.
Thanks for your insight, I went with 24x because they're cheap and abundant but im really stuck on the harness. Wiring specialties said they don't do them and CPE does but I guess I could follow up and ask again. I have adapter, clutch and everything else just need the harness situated on my 2000 911 its a dew setup.
I mean him too, everyone seems to have accomplished it in a different way whether you go RH/CPE or just a custom rig. I just need some insight into what works for a harness and if its possible to do as a person with tiny knowledge or should I just try to run the motor on a harness separate from the body harness etc etc
Oh I was just giving him Jason's instagram, when you said banned that's who I thought you were referring to. I haven't talked to him him in a long while, don't know the status of his 996.
Im in a group chat with him and some of the guys on here, I think his car is really close but not sure, we talk about a bunch of random non car stuff.
I think zbomb car will be on track this spring.
He used an AIM pda (dash and power distribution) and connected it to a stand alone engine harness. I believe the op wants to integrate it into his factory dash. He should just have to piggyback some sensors so the factory dme gets the signals (i know its more complicated then that but its what needs ti be done). The info is out there hopefully u can find it.
thank you I'll look into that, I am in fact trying to integrate into OEM harness and also trying to retain the OEM pedal. I spoke to this guy willisthehut on IG he did a twin turbo 24X LS engine swap and figured out how to keep his OEM pedal. It matters because im kinda tall and the GM style pedals come out in a way that I would have trouble driving except GTO pedal that one fits well idk I'll keep looking for information.
