Pricing is always a matter of market opinion but historically the best of the best hold their values in the ever changing market.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ive been lusting after a 40 AE 996 at Ryan Friedman Motor Cars in Glen Cove and cannot get up there to check it out. Im
going to have them take it to south shore performance in Freeport for a full ppi but want to know if anyone local could go and put eyes on the car for me? I would really appreciate it!!!
RFMC is one of the more reliable dealers out there. Quite a few members on this forum go their cars through them, including me. It was a smooth transaction for me personally, no complaint. But don't expect to get a slickdeal out of them, they know how to sell their cars.
I'm not looking to get a rock bottom price, I just want a fair deal for a good car and no surprises. Ive heard from another person who recently purchased an AE from Tim Holt that Friedman bought this particular car from another dealer at wholesale for way under their current asking price (which scared him off) so I want to be extra cautious..
Thats their business. If theyre not making money, theyre out of businessSouth Shore Performance is also a reputable shop, so I would trust their PPI. Good Luck
While I'm on the other side of the country and can't help check it out - I did look at the listing, and can totally see why you're lusting after it. If you do pull the trigger you'll have to make a detailed post with pics. Cheers!
That's a incredibly clean example! Hope the PPI comes back clean and you can strike a deal. Are there any records provided with it outside of carfax? I still can't believe people switched out the sport seats that came by default in these cars and opted for the comfort seats!
I will def ask for service history but it has not been offered to me as of yet. I have t seen an AE for sale with the sport seats, unfortunately.. it seems they were default in Europe but not US?
I grew up on Long Island, Bay Shore, now living in Florida and have spoken to Ryan a few times most recently we sat with him at a table at the Porsche only auction by Broad Arrow at the Porsche center in Atlanta. My impression is they are very knowledgeable and sincere Porsche enthusiasts who’s sales niche is the “best of the best” low mileage examples or the rarest of that model by exterior color or other factor. Pricing is always a matter of market opinion but historically the best of the best hold their values in the ever changing market. But as mentioned a solid PPI is a must at that sales price point as a 2004 996 no matter how low the mileage is still subject to our cars traditional faults. Good luck.
Im not disagreeing with you but theres a reason his prices are high.
Whats the other 19K mile, one owner, unmodified 40 AE selling for?
Ive seen a couple of 911s bought from Ryan Friedman and they were great examples.
Yeah they are pretty rare but are out there. I own #1111 and the sport seats were one of the reasons why I purchased it. They are paint matched in GT Silver and really tie the interior together. They were the default world wide but people seemed to opt for the comfort seats in most cases. Maybe the seat memory was a big thing back then and that's what drove the decision?
I hear you and agree but in my subjective view the asking prices are easily 10-20% above market, consistently. Like cars can be had at much better values.
I agree with you about the sport seats.. its not a deal breaker for me and perhaps they can be found floating around the web at some point. I assume a set in another color can just be painted to match, correct?
Most definitely - paint match wouldn't be hard! They would still look a bit differently because the OEM seats came in the same natural gray / charcoal color as rest of the interior but black leather would work. I saw a set for sale a while back in the right color and they went for about $3500.00
