Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced my actuator with a used one that is kind of weak.
Leading evidence: 'Replace actuator' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace actuator' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I just did a search, and it states you need to pry the outer side of the rear light and use a coat hanger to get the cable out and pull on it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys!
Suddenly the hood release button won't open my frunk. It's not the battery; it was replaced mere weeks ago, car starts and drives fine.
When I activate the switch on the door sill, you can hear a faint "click" but the frunk latch does not release.
I tried pushing and pulling on the hood while my wife pressed the button, but it won't budge.
Q1: What could cause this?
Q2 Any suggestions before I go digging for that pesky manual release cable? (I hate removing the fender well cover if I don't have to)
Thanks!
Assuming nothing out of the ordinary happened like front end damage or anything that would throw the hood out of alignment , id say its either the solenoid / actuator failing or the latch is bound somehow and the solenoid cannot trigger it. Or a mix of both. Think you need to pull the cable to get it open. You are clearly getting power there because you hear a click.
I replaced my actuator with a used one that is kind of weak. Try using the switch with the engine running as the alternator seems to produce a stronger voltage.
On my 99, the frunk cable is directly behind the left rear light assembly. Pop the engine cover, undo the one nut for the left light assembly and the cable is behind it.
I believe the one behind inside the front fender is for the engine cover.
^^Wow! That is so completely wrong I don't know what to say. The front hood (frunk) emergency release cable is usually located beneath the right front headlight. Need the hood open and remove the headlight. Best to relocate the emergency release cable to just inside the tow hook plug.
The emergency release cable for the engine lid is located underneath the left rear taillight.
Thanks for the suggestion, but that did not work. I guess I'm going to have to either take the fender liner off or take it to my Indy. Sounds like they will have to replace the actuator anyway, plus I have a recurring CEL for low idle that someone needs to look at...
Having the engine lid open by removing the light isn't possible on mine. The lid has to be open to remove the bolt holding the rear light. If you have a work around I'd love to hear it.
Placing the cable adjacent to the item to open makes sense though. But the rear light bolt requires the lid to be open in order to remove the bolt.
You're right. I just did a search, and it states you need to pry the outer side of the rear light and use a coat hanger to get the cable out and pull on it.
I had to use Google to find the information. My 911 and manual is in the body shop being repainted.
