Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have an 2004 Speed yellow C2 that is just as clean (the body/paint might be even nicer that the one listed) very similar specs including the color matched hard back seats.

It is crazy how 996 cars were totaled by insurance companies back in the early 2000s as their value was low and repair costs often exceeded ACV, so if car was not a flood car, fire car, just body damage that was repaired correctly these cars can be a good value today.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know this topic has been discussed before but I'm curious to revive for 2025! I noticed this car on Cars & Bids last night

I have an 2004 Speed yellow C2 that is just as clean (the body/paint might be even nicer that the one listed) very similar specs including the color matched hard back seats. No LSD, all major service just completed including IMS oil fed permanent fix, clutch/flywheel,RMS,coilpacks,engine mounts, trans fluid, new expansion tank and other things. My car has a GT2 wing and GT3 front bumper/side skirts, I also have OEM GT3 wheels as well as a set of turbo twist and new coilovers waiting to be installed next spring. Milage is 60k. My car was in an accident in 2012 written off driver side rear damage and was rebuilt by a reputable high end shop in 2013. Car has a rebuilt title from May 2013. I didn't buy the car with the intention of selling it anytime soon but now I'm just curious seeing the value of another Speed yellow with a clean title. What do you think its worth and how much impact on price does a rebuilt title from 13 years ago affect value.
Speaking for myself, the more time that has passed trouble-free since the incident the better. 10+ years of use indicates that there is not likely to be any gotchas lurking from the incident or repairs. Another thing I would place high value on is pictures of the damage prior to repair. Even then however a rebuilt title is going to dramatically reduce selling price.
30%-40% off the price. The rebuilt title makes it harder to insure. Sometimes all you get is Liability. And then it turns people off. It is better if it is a theft recovery so that no damage was done other than lost keys. Big accident or flood car is a big flag.
My son purchased a 1999 Aerokit about two years ago with a rebuilt title from an undetermined cause. Whatever happened was from a PO and is unknown. The condition at the time of purchase would be best described as fair on the Hagerty Valuation scale. The paint is worse in person than the pictures, clear is pealing. It had unknown 19” aftermarket wheels with a mix of non factory lug bolts. The interior is leather but it was dyed from savanna to black. He replaced the wheels with sport design OEM wheels and Sumitomo HRT’s. He also added GT3 hardback Sport seats and did an alignment. The only issue has been a bad cam deviation sensor that he replaced. A few diy oil changes show no engine issues. He has four or five HPDE weekends in the green run group on her and maybe 7500 miles in the last two years. Not a bad ride for a 20 year old kid. It is his DD but shares duty with a 1981 924.
The car is currently showing 90k miles.
He paid $19k in the spring of 2024, my estimate is that he has around $20,700 in the car, hope this helps👍

BTW: Insurance is not a problem with a rebuilt title, I have done three or four over the years, never an issue
The boy has an agreed value policy for replacement cost. At 20 years old and one accident over three years ago, he pays $1100 every six months.
Awesome to see the young man enjoying the car! I got a steal of a deal on mine so I personally didn't care about the title plus it was over 10 years since the rebuild so I wasn't concerned. I had no issues with insurance either got it on a classic car policy with a valuation of 40k I pay about 300$ a year

I have seen some very special optioned cars that were repaired and it would have been a shame if they had been parted out or crushed, Aero coupes are a great example.
i would be a buyer for the right car.

I have rebuilt several salvage titled cars, including two 1999 996s. I still own the salvage titled 996 aero in my signature. Insuring a salvage titled car is not an issue. They don't care. The only issue differentiating a salvage titled car from a clear titled car is financing. Banks and credit unions will not finance a salvaged car on a traditional auto loan. If you have to finance, they will only do it on a signature (unsecured) loan. The salvage titled cars that I rebuilt and sold were priced near the bottom of the market for a clear titled car. I never had a problem selling them. I documented the rebuild of my cars with extensive photographs. I suspect that always helped me sell them. If you search my user name, I documented the rebuild of my current 996 rebuild here....."burnt 996 rebuild".
A salvage title also voids any manufacturer's warranty.
