Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They change the coding so that when the client plugs the buckle into the deactivation kit the car will deactivate the airbag itself, flashes the airbag light to warn you the right front airbag has been deactivated.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Considering having my tall 9 year old grandson ride in front passenger seat, which is legal in California. Not good though with the airbag for him. Is there a way to easily inactivate it?
There are a few threads on how to do it but the best way is to buy one of these airbag deactivation bars. I have installed this in my car so my kids can ride up front. Once this is installed below the front passenger seat youll have to use a scan tool to change the coding. Also something youll need is the buckle to clip into this. Porsche child seats had a buckle on them that you plugged into this deactivation bar but I just modified a 944 buckle for it.
The air bag deactivation kit is a factory Porsche part. The later model 996-997 have a switch you turn with the vehicle key in the glove box. Porsche has designed it this way so you can carry kids up front..
The deactivation kit is meant for Rear Facing Child Seat in the front seat because rear seat is not available or not useable. A 9-year old child is likely able to benefit from an airbag in the event of a crash. Disabling the airbag is un-wise, and a dealer would not do it.
Whether or not a kid would benefit from the airbag is all about their size. Being smaller the force of the airbag could be dangerous for a kid. If you look up the Porsche seat they make one forward facing with the extra buckle out the bottom to plug into the factory airbag deactivation kit. The dealer doesnt deactivate the air bag for you. They change the coding so that when the client plugs the buckle into the deactivation kit the car will deactivate the airbag itself, flashes the airbag light to warn you the right front airbag has been deactivated.
