Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Lubricate track it appears' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check hydraulic fluid' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

What is recommended for lubrication for the top mechanism- thanks
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

During the coilover install, I had the rear portion of the top propped up to facilitate getting to the shock mount area. That prop rod failed at some point and the top fell to full open. The top then appeard to operate normally, but now it will not complete a cycle without help.
The top gets stuck in the cycle either up or down when it gets to the moving side flap portion. The left operates normally, but the right side needs assistance to complete an up or down cycle. The microswitches work when you help the flap to its full up or down position. The mechanism works if I help move it.
Any thoughts? I lubricated the track it appears to slide on. Ill take a video if it would be of any help.
Thanks!
I feel your pain. I eventually had to take mine to the dealer for a walletechtomy. Be careful trying to "help" the mechanism. I tried to help the tonneau cover and it bent like it was made of rice paper. I too had a broken flap.
As sublm8 said, check your hydraulic fluid. Sounds like the normal hydraulic cylinder failure.
Even if you don't see a leak in front of the rear wheel wells, a slow leak over time might not be visible on the ground.
Not much fluid in there, so doesn't take much of a loss to fubar the systems operation. If you fill it and then top operates fully, momentarily, you might then see the leak.
But regardless, if its low on fluid at all, its more than likely your hydraulic cylinders seal leaking and you need new or rebuilt ones. Very common problem for all 996 cabs.

The cylinders were rebuilt. I lubed screw drive last night and it appears to be functioning normally, maybe there was a low voltage condition and driving the car this morning rectified it. The top operated with no issues for 2 cycles.
On a side note, does anybody have a good set of pictures of the interior headliner? Mine is definitely ripped and I want to see what a good one looks like.
