Hello all, I did a search but didn�t find the answer.
I am planning to buy the Numeric shifter for my 996, and am on the fence about the cables.
Does anyone have experience with them? Are they worth it?
The car mostly shifts fine but occasionally is hesitant to go into gear, no grinding. I plan to flush my transmission fluid at the same time. Really want to freshen up the shifting and was wondering if the cables make sense.
I think by typing this out I answered my own question, but want to get some fellow rennlist input.
While I�m at it, what do you all recommend for gear fluid?

Oh yeah, here�s the car! Will make a dedicated thread later.
Beautiful car and photo! Not exactly the same but I have the Function First shift cables. The shift feeling is very mechanical now. That "rifle bolt" feeling. In my opinion not really better or worse than OEM but very different. Just depends on your preferences.
If you look in the 718 GT4/Spyder subforum here there are more threads on experiences with the Numeric + cables.
I went FF instead of Numeric because I didn't want as short a throw as the Numeric has and the FF shifter bearings had closer to OEM throw lengths.
There are enough threads on this topic to choke a whale. "I searched..." hahahahahaha! Good one.
Function First has also introduced a cable set recently. If I were going to choose between FF and Numeric for a road car I would spend my money with the former. In fact I will, once I get back to doing stuff to the targa.
I have them with my Numeric shifter. They are noisy despite using the included insulation. I have some Dyna Mat insulation for which I plan to wrap the cables and install on the center console. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll explore other options.
