My 2003 Cab driver side door window drops the expected few millimeters when I open the door using the external handle, but a soon as I let go of the handle it goes back up, so if I try to shut the door the window bangs into the frame.

Got this URO latch from Amazon last year, it has worked flawlessly so far, everything works just like new did 24 years ago....

I tried an eBay Volkswagen/Audi new latch which fixed the problem, but the car wouldn�t lock using the key fob or activate the alarm. I tried a used latch from a 996 Turbo same part number as the original door latch, said to be working, but had the same issue of it dropping but going straight back up on handle release. I�ve tested the micro switch located in the outer door handle and it has continuity. I�m stumped what the issue could be. Hoping you guys will have some suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Its the latch. Many micro switches have to work in perfect unison or you get your exact problem. Got this URO latch from Amazon last year, it has worked flawlessly so far, everything works just like new did 24 years ago.... Amazon Amazon

Preaching to the choir here - buy the OE Porsche door latch. You can screw around forever with VW and Audi and whatever door latches to save a buck, and you know what? You will run into quarky problems, no window drops, key fob doesn't unlock, alarm goes off, etc. Don't go cheap..it's a Porsche!
