I would have been prepared to get a new light but then I didn't know whether it would match my other light, which I suspect has a little bit of fading also.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my OCD had been getting the better of me, as my amber indicators in the headlights did not match. The right side had turned yellow, and my attempts to find a replacement were fruitless. I did locate a headlight, but at AUD$2000, I thought I would have a go at trying to match mine up. I rubbed the amber section with 600, 800, 1200, 1500 & 2000 wet&dry, then the Tamiya TS73 Clear Orange paint, and finished with 2k two pack clear. I perhaps could have gone with one extra coat of of orange (I thought is might darken a little with the clear coat) but on the car it looks almost perfect.

POST 2Original post

Nice work, our headlights are getting to be more and more of an issue and it is also getting more and more difficult to find replacements at a doable price any restoration tips are of great value Thanks Rich 👍

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My local dealer told me that there were something like 20 of these lights on back order worldwide. I would have been prepared to get a new light but then I didn't know whether it would match my other light, which I suspect has a little bit of fading also. I'm thrilled with the result - the Tamiya paint really is a perfect match for our lights. Hopefully the 2 pack clear holds up over time.
