Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I just got the battery tender one - but thats because I changed over to a life battery.
Leading evidence: 'Replace over' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '7000' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace over' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Used the cheezy "as seen on tv" Mighty Max on other people's cars with success.

I use a lithium jump type battery to jump the car.

I have this one - have't used on my 996 but it did start my v-8 Yukon with no problems.

Suggestion
So I thought I'd better use the emergency overide (for when it doesn't recognize the battery) and connect directly to the engine charging points for more power where it's needed.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I'm thinking for a boost on a flat but otherwise healthy battery it worked, on a bad battery not so much.
Just wondering if anyone use these with success and have a good reco. I bought one more than a year ago. Tried to use it the other day (freshly charged) and it didn't do nothing. Good I have a traditional booster pac that works.
btw, I jumped at the engine compartment jump start terminal.
I've used one of these batteries with my motorcycles but not yet with my 996 and I carry one with my car. I'm interested to know if it will work at the fuse box terminals.
It should be able to pop the frunk from the fuse box terminal. I'm more interested in anyone successfully jumping a 996 with a low/dead battery though. They look too small for that duty.
Experienced them twice, First time the kids left a dome light on in the 4Runner at the airport, week later had to get the airport parking service guy to boost us, truck started right up. Second time came out of Home Depot and the 996 wouldn't start HD tool rental guy come over with his portable booster, no luck had to get a boost from a 997 Turbo, turns out I had a bad cell in the battery as it would only hold 10v. So I'm thinking for a boost on a flat but otherwise healthy battery it worked, on a bad battery not so much.
Ive read that the cheap ones ($49) have 3x less delivered power than the expensive ones (over $100), even if the marketing spec shows the same on both.
I have the lightweight Odyssey 680 battery in my track car and sometimes it needs a jump. I use a lithium jump type battery to jump the car. It works well.
I have an AntiGravity one I bought at least 4 yrs ago. It's been great. I've never had to start the 996 with it, but have used it to start a 944 race car at a DE last year....several times in the day without recharging.
I have a Noco Genius, probably the 7000. The model that's supposedly big enough for 6 liters. (Or was it 5? Not 100% sure now.) First time I tried to use it, it did nothing. Even if I waited a while before turning the key. The car battery was very low - enough that the alarm kept blaring and the windows ever so slightly misbehaved. But it wasn't so dead that I couldn't open the frunk or close the door without the windows dropping way down. The Noco was pretty fully charged, though perhaps not 100% - it had been months since I'd charged it.
Then I read the instructions (which I'd read and already forgotten before actually using it). Whereas I had connected the cable to the Noco, then connected the clips to the engine charging points, and then turned on the Noco, I was supposed to connect the clips to the car battery itself, then connect the cable, then turn it on, then make sure the light came on showing it recognized the battery. And I thought hmm, maybe to make sure it recognizes the battery, it's important to connect it directly to the battery. So next time I did everything the instructions said. But I didn't think it even recognized the battery (though in retrospect, I think I just didn't notice the light b/c it was in bright sunlight and I was looking at the wrong light).
So I thought I'd better use the emergency overide (for when it doesn't recognize the battery) and connect directly to the engine charging points for more power where it's needed. Then when I connected, I realized it did in fact recognize the battery - there was some more shade and I could see the light. So I turned the key. Nothing. Then I waited a bit over 30 seconds and turned the key. And it started right up. This time I know the Noco was fully charged. And the car's battery was less dead than last time (no alarm blaring, windows fine). So the Noco has earned a reprieve. But not my full confidence. Not yet.
