This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had my 2004 C4S cab since it was brand new. It now has 86K miles - prob 2/3 city - 1/3 hwy. I love to drive it. I've been through countless sets of tires but mechanically the car has been great. It had IMS failure at 14K while still under warranty and engine was replaced by Porsche and since has been running well. A rat chewed through my fuel line at one point. Water pump needed replacement somewhere along the line. Right side valve cover gasket (and spark plug tube seals) needed replacing at one oil change. Otherwise, all systems still a go. Transmission seems fine. I very rarely get a CEL with a P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) on an OBD reader, but it seems to clear on its own. I'm a driver, not a mechanic. I've spent some time reading the forum and doing some searching but am not finding what a non-mechanic needs to know and am humbly looking for some direction from those in the know. I want to take the car into a non-dealer Porsche shop and get it mechanically "optimized" (for lack of a better word...) but don't know where to start/what to get done. What maintenance would you get done and/or have checked at 14 years old and 86K miles given the above info? Sorry to be a dumbass but I do love my car and wish to keep driving it until the wheels fall off - just don't have the bandwidth to become my own mechanic. Also, don't want to fall for the "Hey man, you need a new flux capacitor - this is gonna cost you" scenario. Thanks for any help. B
