Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did it when I was was replacing interior, carpets and seats, so everything was out; I do not know the minimum amount of stuff to remove.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I need to replace the Cable (996 gt3 cs -00) for the Engine lid opening.
I can see how its attached to the lock mechanism and I know how to loosen the cable from the lever by the door sill. But there is nothing in wsm about how to replace/route this Cable.
Anyone ever done it?
Best regards
Jonas
Jonas, what was the outcome of this? I have to replace my cable as well. I have the new cable, but cannot find any info on the routing, what to disassemble, and how to go about replacing it. Thanks
I removed and replaced the cable on my 2000. You need to remove a ton of trim, carpets, etc. I did it when I was was replacing interior, carpets and seats, so everything was out; I do not know the minimum amount of stuff to remove.
Going by memory, I think you need to remove the rear seats and mounting parts, the plastic trim under the rear window, the (two?) crosswise carpet pieces, rear driver side lower interior trim, rear driver side upper interior trim, rear seating area carpet, remove or pull up the main carpet under the seating area. You may not have to remove all of these parts, since it feeds up along the inside of the body, but youll need to remove a lot more than youd think in order to get to it.
On the engine side, I seem to recall an eyelet and mini cotter pin arrangement, but am not sure my recall is good. Once it is detached from the rear latch, you can pull it through from the interior (a second person to guide it from the engine bay might be handy - my engine was out, so I didnt have much to catch on). The cable goes through a rubber grommet on the driver side small firewall behind where the upper seat belt mount is. You can pull it through (toward the inside of the vehicle) and remove it, replacement is the opposite if removal. Some rubber lubricant like ruglyde will help with the grommet.
