Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I found a higher mileage running 1999 996 with manual for under $12K in DFW area a couple of months ago.

Suggestion
For an actual running driving 996, you won't get one for much less.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cleaning out my computer and found the updated spreadsheet I assembled while shopping for my C4S a few years ago. I've got my car, so hopefully this helps one of you out there with your P-car search.
Feel free to download, change, criticize, or update what you'd like. Keep in mind that values have changed slightly since 2015. If you have any problems downloading it or pulling it off the link, please let me know.
Happy shopping,

OK, I couldn't sleep last night knowing that what I posted the other day was 2 years old and not updated. There have been so many people that helped with my car buying purchase process, and the least I can do is pay it forward to the next wave of 996 owners. So.....I went ahead and pulled all the data off of AutoTrader and updated my little spreadsheet for what the market looks like today.
Spreadsheet now contains: coupes, manual transmission, non-GT cars (2, 4, 4S, Turbo, Targa, 40AE, Mil). Sorry convertible and auto guys, you're gonna have to find your own data.
In the process of doing so, I ran across a number of interesting stats about what today's market looks like. Again, I have no dog in the race here or any affiliation with these sellers...just want to build a tool that helps the community make more informed decisions about car buying. Feel free to modify however you like.

To be clear, this data from AutoTrader...it's asking price, correct, not actual selling price? I feel like cars.com and autotrader seem to have very high asking prices compared to other places. Still, very cool collection of data!
That is correct, this is asking price on AutoTrader.
My suggestion for potential 996 buyers is to start with this list and add cars from other sources (craigslist/other) to improve your data set and understand some of your regional biases.
Needs a decay function instead of linear showing a bottom around 14k right now excluding some rare outlier. For an actual running driving 996, you won't get one for much less.

I was about to go pick it up when I found my new 2002 Manual C2 with IMS Solution, Fabspeed exhaust, 50K miles for $20K.
It was in the Houston area.
I jumped on the 02 and forgot the 99.
I kept trying to get my friends to go pick up the 99 because I think it was a pretty good deal.
