Suggestion

I run PFC rotors and pads on my 996 and I love them, I prefer them over the PAGID equivalent, however the pads are quite loud, as Jeremy Clarkson would say, it sounds like you are stamping on a piglet, which I attribute to the pads not the rotors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am considering using PFC's v3 (two piece) front brake rotors, and it's very important to me that they work very well on the street, not just on the track (where I'm sure they work very well). Concerns (which for all I lknow are irrelevant for rotors, though at least some are relevant for pads) include noise, grip when cold, and whether differneces in braking characteristics would unbalance the car or even confuse the PSM. If anyone has any experience with these, could you let us know how well/poorly they worked? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

On the street, any rotor that's flat (i.e. not warped or having irregular pad material deposits) will work fine. The noise, cold grip, dust, etc. will all be controlled by your pad selection, so make sure you use a street pad, not a track-oriented pad.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Very helpful advice - and basically what I was hoping to hear!

POST 4Original post

I run PFC rotors and pads on my 996 and I love them, I prefer them over the PAGID equivalent, however the pads are quite loud, as Jeremy Clarkson would say, it sounds like you are stamping on a piglet, which I attribute to the pads not the rotors. Floating rotors can be loud, however PFC has very nice anti-rattle hardware, there is no noise from these rotors, even at low speeds.

Which PFC pads are you using? 08s or 11s? Or .. ?

Both actually. 11 front and 08 rear.
