I asked him to adjust my emergency brake and check things out that I should have before I bought the car--lol.

I was scared about cost of maintenance and took it in for an oil change today with Mobile synthetic oil.

MY Lap time got better with each run race day and I can't wait to give it another go next month.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Stage 4 here and was in partial remission so I bought me my Dream Car.
I bought it in Fremont CA and had it shipped to Medford,, OR (Oregon residents don't have to pay sales tax) paid $500 to have it shipped to Oregon to save on sales tax.
It was the 1st 911 I looked at---it was my favorite colors of Dark Teal green with Savana Beige interior. It looked like new and seemed to run really good.
I was scared about cost of maintenance and took it in for an oil change today with Mobile synthetic oil. I asked him to adjust my emergency brake and check things out that I should have before I bought the car--lol. He topped off the fluids and re adjusted the break. Told me I had 80-90 % left on my front breaks and 90-100% of my back brakes left. He also checked all my hoses and belts--the suspension, steering, axles and the intake and exhaust systems. Quite a relief he said everything is in Great Shape!!
He's Porsche Certified and my total bill was $149!!. I think he didn't charge me for the oil, but still way cheaper then I thought it would be. I will go back and show were he didn't charge me for $100 worth of oil.
On a bad note-- no longer in remission and might have to sell the car, but I will enjoy each and every minute I have it. about 900 miles so far-I'll upgrade later to post some pictures if someone might be interested
Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you'll stick around and hang out with us. Even if you have to sell it. But yes, posting pictures is a must! The more the better.
Random question. Have you by chance read The Fault in Our Stars? It's my favorite book. It's not in my genre or similar to anything else I read but it's my favorite story.
So sad your illness is not in remission but overjoyed to read that you got the 911 of your dreams. Dark green with tan inside is my fav color combo of all the photos I have of the 911 on my PC. What is the mileage? BTW welcome to the page.

Best of luck with your battle, and keep enjoying everything/everyone that makes you happy! Absolutely post some photo's!
Nice to hear that a new Porsche makes your day! Share some pics and stick around to share in the Rennlist forum. Hang in there and be as positive as you can.
Touching story my friend. I wish you all the best in life, but keep on fightin' and enjoying every moment you have with friends and family as well as some solo time cruising in your 996. If you have time, post some pictures. We'd enjoy hearing more about your story and the travels in the car. I'm sure it's a beauty! God Speed my friend!
That is a nice looking car and I almost bought its near twin.
Back in early 2009 when shoppoing for my next Porsche I came upon -- at Stead Porsche in Walnut Creek, CA -- a green 911 with the same interior color and the dark (almost black) wood trim. (I forget the name of the wood.) The car was very good looking and I was sorely tempted to buy it. But I spotted a new 2008 Cayman S and bought it instead.
Nice images, but the last one is different. It looks like a 996 Targa. Do you have two Porsche 996s?
Anyway, love the color combo... it works very well with the dark green color. Nice!
I don't think it's a Targa--I thought it was when I bought it, but looked back at the ad and it didn't say so...I think the back hatch would open if it was the 2004 model ----pictures are all from the dealer--was looking at another 2004 that was.
This looks like the wood trim in my interior---don't think its real wood---but it looks nice---mine has the trim on the shift noob and the emergency brake too

You look way to young to drive Slakker,,, and that car looks like the perfect combination of colors and a great car kab1944---on another note---about 6 years ago one never knows when one's health will stop them from doing things they enjoy--kind of had a
Premonition, so I bought my dream boat in Olympia, WA and lived in the San Juan Islands for about 4 years--played in the Canadian Islands and went a ways up the Inside Passage-I planned on Alaska-those plans were brought to a halt with the cancer and saying I had 12 months maybe 16 if I had my kidney removed. Said I should probably do nothing call hospice go home and die and that it would probably spread to my eyes, brain and bones. I fired that Doctor andhad my kidney removed at Stanford. I never made it to Alaska after my diagnosed, but sailed single handed from Canada to Humboldt Bay on my 14 month as a way of giving him the finger-I quit seeing him too--my dream boat I'd wanted since about 1992 was a 32 ft Gulf Pilothouse--a motor sailor--I could chase albacore with too--I caught 3 on my way down the coast 25-30 pounds---could have caught a lot more--but I was going without sleep and stuff and had to move on. I'm mostly a day sailor--have crossed the bar a lot, but not a lot of real offshore experience. Was out about 70 miles when the south wind came up and waves were breaking over my bow and hitting my windshield hard, could only do about 1mph so I headed into Brookings--was a little scared, but felt good to be alive and get sailing the northwest coast off my bucket list
The car is beautiful, I hope it brings you many smiles.
The sailing trip sounds amazing too - incredibly impressive to do that after the prognosis you were given. Thanks for the reminder to get out there and live life.
I got my 1st shot at Autocross this last weekend up at the Jackson County Parks just outside of Medford. Practice Friday and Saturday with the race Sunday.I got 25 mpg on the way to the even getting to drive up highway 199 and the SMith River Canyon--no cones on the beautiful windy road, but cliffs to the river and rock wall to keep one on the road I missed the practice Fiday and it started to rain so I never went until Saturday, I got lots of rest in my motel room and tried to stay comfy and rested to avoid spikes in pain, I went last month, but was to sore to do ride alongs with friends. I finally got 15 practice runs in on Saturday and was goig to go back to the motel for a nap and come back at $--never made it back 15 laps wore me out a ot more then I thought--I can't imagine the Lemans--YA Porsche!!!
I wasn't as fast as I thought I would be, but I learned so much especially how important braking is. MY Lap time got better with each run race day and I can't wait to give it another go next month. Here's a vieo of a 914 gong around the track.
