Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Another tip - there is a plethora of used/new/OEM/aftermarket parts for the cars.

For interior I prefer a clean OEM look and have used Suncoast Parts for quite a few part refreshes.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

not clear on what TIPS you are specifically asking about? Maintenance? Mods? NTL, congrats.
P.S. Not sure if you had a PREPurchase Inspection done? If you did, fix what was discovered.
Drive it like you stole it. Every now and then, check yourself in the rear view mirror for goofy smile. Go to the "Does Everyone Hate Speed Yellow?" (or whatever it's called) thread, and tell them to suck it! Great looking car...T
Here's a tip, don't put the top up. If you took the plunge then you should be able to overlook many of the posts you might read on Rennlist about the doom and gloom of owning a Porsche. Beautiful color.
Thanks guys so far I love it. The more I drive the better I like it.
It has after market exhaust that's pretty loud. Going to take some time getting used to it.
+1 on this. I was daunted by the thought of working on mine when i got it and expected to spend a lot of time building a relationship with an Indy mechanic. But it is still a car and can be worked on by an amateur if you know your limits and do some homework. Saves a lot of money and makes you at least somewhat of an expert on your own car. You will need a few funky metric tools though

Sway bars/ suspension mods that fit your driving needs can be much more enjoyable than other performance modifications that try to bump power.
I've always worked on my own stuff so wrenching on this shouldn't be a big deal. I'm going to upgrade ims myself this fall. I may ask a lot of dumb questions but I'll get it done.
Thanks
Congrats. Open the frunk, locate the option sticker just behind the latch and post the options along the bottom of the sticker. We can figure out what you've got there.
I have a 99, and I was going to do the IMS within a few months of getting it. Now - I'm wavering. The failure rate on mk1 is quite low, and indications to the contrary I am considering a full-flow filter, and a chip detector without an IMS replacement until clutch time. One man's opinion, so....
For now, drive and enjoy.
Get the Adrian Streather 996 book. Everything you ever wanted to know about the 996 including deciphering the codes.
In the meantime my advice, Drive it hard, put it away wet.
Enjoy, beautiful car.
Random observation:
1) Many of us here have been experiencing a car that cost at least $65K to $85K new.
2) That cost us peanuts.
3) Most (if not all?) of us could probably spend a hundred grand on a car if we would choose to do so.
4) Kind of fun to take the most maligned Porsche 911 and see what happens? Just for the challenge.
5) Even if they explode in a year, it's MUCH less then the depreciation on something newer and boring.
6) Does anyone honestly notice if it's the much maligned 996, or a 2017 Turbo when they spontaneously comment,
"Nice car."
