Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On my old 986, I replaced the original spring with the a screen door closure spring.

Never thought about going with a lighter spring to "adjust" the feel.

Suggestion
On my M3 I have replaced all the pedal bushings where the pedal pivots on the mounting rod from plastic to bronze, the plastic bushings I removed were worn out and that could cause a weird feeling.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

99 C4 Cab
Replacing my clutch booster spring. Part number on my original housing is 99642357902.
I cant seem to find this part number new from anyone. I see this one from a few places that may fit but Im not sure.

anyone know if this one will fit? Looks the same
I also have a 99 c4. Not sure why you are replacing it but if its just for the spring and the housing is not broken I have swapped out the internal spring in the past for softer springs giving a firmer pedal, I bet you could find the correct stiffness spring to stock, did not like the firmer pedal and bought a new stock part years ago from pelican which is also sold out
Clutch spring
. You can buy the springs from somewhere I don't remember, but there is a thread about it. I am not sure if what you linked will fit but here are some pics for you to compare, looks the same to me.
Thanks for that info!
I recently did an engine out with tons of work done including new clutch/flywheel and all the hardware back there. Clutch feels AWESOME now with the exception of the initial push of the pedal going down and then just before the pedal being full back up - there is a bump - in the pedal unit. Reading up online it sounds like this unit can wear out and is likely the causeperhaps it is normal to have that bump or maybe this part is wearing out? Thoughts ?
Years ago the clutch spring housing on my 996.2 broke and fell to the floor when I was on the track. Had no idea what was rolling around at my feet. Exited the track and luckily my indy was there and told me what it was and that I really didnt need it, but the clutch will feel much stiffer. I liked the stiffer/heavier feel and ran it that way for a number of years.
Then my kids were old enough to learn how to drive a manual and had a tough time with it. So I added a new one back on the car.
Never thought about going with a lighter spring to "adjust" the feel. Good suggestion.
I feel no bump its smooth the whole range of motion. Perhaps the spring cracked inside the housing so the damage cant be seen? On my M3 I have replaced all the pedal bushings where the pedal pivots on the mounting rod from plastic to bronze, the plastic bushings I removed were worn out and that could cause a weird feeling. Maybe you could you remove the the clutch spring assembly and see if the bump goes away, the pedal will be a lot firmer but will remove the spring variable from the bump feeling.
You can buy the springs direct from McMaster. They come in a 6 pack.
Part number 9657K142 is a lighter spring, which makes for a little less assist.

I may still have one or 2 left from my 6 pack.
I found that without any spring installed the clutch depressed indication switch was always activated so cruise control wouldnt work.
On my old 986, I replaced the original spring with the a screen door closure spring. Not very strong, but enough to keep the pedal up fully to allow cruise to work.
Thanks for all the responses. I removed the clutch booster assembly which was an interesting angle to be in haha
The little bump/clunk at the top was no longer present but I really didnt like the feel without the assist spring. I have occasion to be stuck in traffic so Im not looking for a clutch that stiff.
I see no damage or issues. Lubed up the contact points of the 4 C clips and will take it on a drive.
